Tim Kring Expands on Season 2 (Possible Spoilers)

The guys over at SuperheroHype got their hands on Tim Kring and fired off a rapid list of questions, and Kring answered every one of them. There are some mild spoilers in here, but nothing I would say to be TOO major. I.e. You learn about some people having powers, where the story picks up, how Season 2 will have 24 episodes, that kind of thing. But I know there are some of you who are inexplicably squeamish about these things, so don’t read on if you meet that qualification. Okay ready? You may continue now…

SuperheroHype had a long list of questions, but I’ll only highlight what I think are new information about the upcoming Season 2:

Is comic book artist Tim Sale coming back? - Yes, despite Isaac Mendez having been killed off. (As you’ll recall, Tim Sale is the “painter” who actually painted all those paintings Isaac paints.) Kring says he has a “clever” way to re-introduce Sale’s artwork and, presumably Isaac Mendez back into the story.

If Season 2 takes place 4 months after the finale of Season 1, what about Hiro, who is stuck in the past? - We meet Hiro as we last saw him, landing in Feudal Japan. The final minutes of the Season 1 finale is also the first minutes of the Season 2 premiere episode.

Will George Takei return as Hiro’s father, and will he finally be revealed to have a power? – Yes and yes.

Is Greg Grunberg and Matt Parkman coming back? The last we saw him, he had been “shot”. – Probably. Kring says because Grunberg is popular, there’s a reason to keep him on. Then again, he could be lying.

Will Linderman return? His death sure looked suspicious. – According to Kring, yeah, they always meant to kill off Linderman like that, at the end of Season 1. Which is pretty disappointing to me. I always expected Linderman to be a bigger villain than he turned out to be. Kinda anti-climatic, actually, the whole Linderman arc.

Will D.L., Ando, and Jessica return? - Maybe, they’re talking about it, and No, Jessica/Niki has now been merged and is essentially a new character.

And finally, for fans of Jessalyn Gilsig, will we FINALLY see Meredith the Firestarter back? - Says Kring: “Oh yes, absolutely. The smaller characters that were met along the way, some have greater significance in the second season.”

So there you go. Some questions answered, others not so much.

You can read the entire interview for yourself here.

(Thanks to Gabriel for the heads up on the article)
