Sylar, Peter, and Nathan Back for Season 2, But Not DL?
By Sam | May 22, 2007 (11:08 am) | More: Heroes Season 2 Spoilers/News
The ashes of Peter and Nathan hasn’t settled yet, but we’ve already gotten possible SPOILERS about the upcoming Season 2, namely, Who survives, and who doesn’t, and who is on the fence? According to Eonline’s TV critic and spoiler guru Kristin, that fiery blaze you saw in the skyline over New York City might not be so bad after all…
So who will be returning?
His crimson snail trail to the manhole made that perfectly clear, and I also have it on high authority that Zachary Quinto (Sylar) is a series regular next season. Makes sense, since the guy pretty much stole every single scene he was in tonight, did he not? So creeptastic!
Hmm, I’m not so sure about this. Why bring back the same villain when you have a show that is designed to introduce new villains every season? I like Quinto, but I don’t know if I want to see the same villain for another 24 episodes. And if he does come back, they’ll just end up turning him good, or semi-good, to help battle the “other” bogeyman that Molly mentioned.
And the Petrelli brothers? Matt? Poor D.L.?
I have it on good authority that both Milo Ventimiglia (Peter) and Adrian Pasdar (Nathan) are back next season. I’m also 99 percent certain Greg Grunberg (Matt) is back, but not so sure about D.L. (Leonard Roberts). I have a sneaking suspicion Linderman’s blood or heart may heal him, but that could just be my wishful thinking, for I love Leonard so.
Again, I’m going to be terribly disappointed if they bring Nathan back. Peter is understandable, and even expected. But making Nathan a survivor of that blast will just destroy his character’s redemption arc for me. Matt and DL? I could do with or without. DL in particular has been shamefully ignored in Season 1, resulting in little empathy for his character.
And as for Hiro, as expected, he’s stuck in 17th century Japan, where he will apparently stay for a couple of episodes before making his way back to the present to rejoin the other Heroes.
So what do you think? I don’t like the possibility of too many characters returning. It just doesn’t seem “real” enough, and Tim Kring has always said that he wants the show, despite its fantastical premise, to be more real than not. We’ll see…

“Admit it, Pete, I’m way too handsome to die.”

Technopath on 22 May 2007:
I don’t think this will make the show worse, I think Sylar might join forces with the new Villain. As for DL, in the comics he survived but it’s still in recuperation. Nathan being back is a disappointment though, although I don’t mind it if he becomes a good guy instead of the politician we all know xD
Allergyboy on 22 May 2007:
Haha! Love that last caption.
endymione on 22 May 2007:
cant wait to see nathan back in tights… hihihi…
maybe molly should have more powers more than the rest of them.its a cliche… but its always fun to have someone so small to be so powerful…
i also didnt understand why they have to let the viewers see why sylar became that way… i mean… its like blaming his mom wy he became so evil… why cant they just let it be that sylar is just EVIL… period…
AC on 22 May 2007:
Just because Adrian Pasdar is back doesn’t necessarily mean that Nathan is back. You never know how much of the “Five Years Gone” storyline actually changed.
Bones on 22 May 2007:
I think Nathan is dead but as the above poster suggested, his real life person will need to be available (Candice or Sylar as future Nathan). He did win the election after all and he must be explained away if no one fills that Congressional seat, explained away to the voting public that is. Plus, this show likes to go back in time to explain things and he will need to be around for that. Frankly, I hope real Nathan is dead just because it would have been cheesy for him to survive, but the actor is one of the better ones. If Candice or anyone else takes his body shape and acts as Congressman it will be just like Mystique acting as the Senator in XMen. Totally plausible, highly likely, and who cares if they ripped it off. They ripped so much from XMen why stop now. I personally don’t care that their creativity is somewhat immature. I think it will get better as they develop new Heroes and and Maybe Season 3 will be called Heroes: Villain Backlash or something cool like that. I like that Sylar’s evil was explained rather than just having him be evil. No one is evil for no reason. Even the Devil if you believe in that sort of thing had a reason.
Squid404 on 22 May 2007:
Can someone explain to me why Peter couldn’t just fly away without Nathan? Didn’t he absorb Nathan’s power already?
welshcake35 on 22 May 2007:
I dont know why exacly but i think it might be because he cannot use two powers simultaneously. Anyone else got any ideas?
matt on 22 May 2007:
I think Peter was to agitated by trying to hold off the explosion to concetrate enough to fly. Still, why would Claire not just shoot him in the head. He would be unconcious (hence no explosion), he would then heal, and would wake up fine. And Nathan would live.
Seems like a much more practical, although less poetic ending.
Aardvark on 22 May 2007:
Peter can use multiple powers simultaneously, but the fact is he has to master his powers and he is still learning most of them. The power he seems to wield the best is invisibility, the only one he had a teacher for. In the finale he was just too freaked out to control any of his powers, why he didn’t have another anxiety attack and pass out again I can’t say.
I really liked Nathan’s character and the journey he had through the show, but for him to survive would ruin his storyline and be nothing more than a sellout to popularity (that means he’ll probably be back).
I wouldn’t mind seeing Micah back, but not if it means we have to put up with the HORRIBLE Jessica/DL story. Definitly one of the weakest aspects of the show. D.L. had a shot as a character but was sabotaged by being paired with Jessica/Niki. The whole Jessica/Niki thing seemed like pointless time filler to me.
Beth on 22 May 2007:
i think that peter is not capable of using more than one power at a time. i also think that shoot him would have only been a temporary solution. he still has to learn to control that power before he can use it for any good.
and i will be seriously disappointed if nathan lives. i mean, i know the actor will remain on the show, but i think that candice will just slip into his position and body, and eventually sylar, because the future episodes hint very strongly at that. we do need a new villian though. sylar is incredibly well written, but he’s gotten too predictable. they need to change it up more. i mean, they made nathan good, and even linderman had some redeeming qualities. one bad guy just isn’t enough.
Chris on 22 May 2007:
Peter has trouble controlling his power ie… the meltdown, In my opinion, Nathan and Peter’s fraternal bond help them obtain lift off into orbit. Hmmm, bringing back Sylar I guess that would be ok he is an excellent villain but I don’t think he should come back and have to share the bogey man spot with someone else. We have enough heroes to follow withouth a league of villains to also have to follow. Less is more.
Haitian guy on 22 May 2007:
You should not bother to consider the many possibilities that could have happened, this way serves the story, story about heroes. Because, everything would be fine, no casualties, no cry , has the haïtian guy appeared. After all he can block powers, peter would not explode, sylar could not kill (plus he has the only power you cannot steal) .
On a completely different subject, it would be nice if we could see the little indian boy again, maybe he is the one molly talked about considering his powers, or maybe he is the one that led peter to M. devaux… I think there is more to him than meet the eyes… him and the haïtian guy are important …
David on 22 May 2007:
Sylar seems to know how to use the powers as soon as he gets them. I think maybe, he also gains the experience of using the power from eating their brain (or watever he does), and since Peter only has to touch them to gain their power, then he doesn’t get the experience of how to control/use the power.
Finnape on 22 May 2007:
if sylar comes back, he might want the power of the “even worse”
guy. Nathan would be fine to have back, althought i doubt it will happen. Mayby he is somewhere with peter and trying to help him control the powers he has.
when does hiro meet the bug, it could be that he can’t control his power in that time.
alleeta on 22 May 2007:
I don’t see why there is so much trouble with Nathan having possibly survived. All he had to do was take Peter up high enough for NY to be safe, and then put him into a free fall and then move to a safe distance. Peter falls back down (at terminal velocity, which would make for an interesting regeneration…..) and Nathan lands elsewhere.
The two other senarios for the actor being back are quite possible as well, both paintings that we have seen that seem to depict Sylar and Nathan occur in a big office, where Nathan hasn’t really been yet, having just been elected. So that future is still possible.
Guess we’ll have to wait to find out!
Sheldon on 22 May 2007:
Since Peter was around Hero, Why couldn’t he just teleport to a safe place and return if he survived the explosion.
Ziara on 22 May 2007:
First of all, who is this person who is “far worse than Syler?” we think the possibilities are: 1)Peter and Nathan’s dad…They never developed his story. He is probably not dead. Plus for him to give birth to individuals as great as Peter and Nathan, he must be pretty POWERFUL - and someone that powerful does not just kill himself; 2)Peter and Nathan’s Mom could be the second possiblity. She is so RUTHLESS! She has no concerns about her son Peter dying in the bomb in order for Nathan to be great. I think she has some serious powers that we are not aware of yet. She could easily be the one ‘far worse than Sylar’.
What do you guys think?
Finnape on 22 May 2007:
i don’t think that the mother is the “true” evil, but the dad might be. Did someone say that we already know the badass?
pinkgirl76 on 22 May 2007:
I think it was also noteworthy…although I’m not sure of the significance, that we finally find out that Mr. Bennet’s name is Noah…just a thought.
hIRo'S CrAZy on 22 May 2007:
Well to tell you the truth I barely got into Heroes the last two months of the season. I personally got hooked on it. I think Sylar should return same as Peter but Nathan shouldn’t. The one thing that I enjoyed yesterday teaser of season two. Season two is going to have glued on your seat with the new villian.
Gothicdeunan on 22 May 2007:
I think Peter was distracted, I agree with the previous posters who said Mastery and distraction where the reasons Peter didn’t just fly off or even think about it.
Seems most people have forgotten about Hiro’s powers. Peter has demonstrated in the future that he has them and we saw Hiro and Peter together on the subway. How about the future Peter comes back to remove Nathan from the explosion, also revealing to the current Peter, that he HAS this power. Saving Nathan(who I really don’t think he can go on without a fatal downward spiral), and explaining why the Peter of the future never acted as though his ‘connection’ to his brother was lost. This was never touched but I think it’s intricate to Peter as a person/character/hero. He would be a different person without Nathan.
Last thing, Sylar is a great villain and a second season with him wouldn’t be too bad, but I like the idea that he will go crawling away and into the hold of the ‘worse than’ boogie man. Who will then teach and mold him, becoming a DEADLY duo for season three.
Love this series like nothing I have ever seen.
djzchick4twanky on 22 May 2007:
Can someone tell me when the new season is supposed to start?
newsadk on 22 May 2007:
I too believe that there is some special significance to us finding out that Mr. Bennet’s first name is Noah. Why else would it take so long for us to find out?
Bones on 22 May 2007:
A) Peter takes time to control his powers. Even Ted had trouble contorlling the nuke power, which is why his wife died. If Peter gets Ted’s power what makes anyone think he will be able to control it right away, much less use his other powers that he’s not very good at using at the same time? Peter doesn’t actually need to touch someone to gain their power like Rogue from XMen. He just has to be near them, like when he came within a few feet of Ted the first time.
B) Sylar gains his new powers very quickly. I don’t think he eats the brains. He is a clock repair man. He is interested in how things work on the inside, which is why he opens them up, to learn how they use their powers. He then is able to mimick those powers. pehrhaps he absorbs them through the contact with their brain but I think it’s more of a learning how they work result. It would perhaps lead to a reason why he does not have headaches, maybe he sees the problems in their brains and refuses that gnetic abnormality.
C) Peter was telling Claire to kill him to avoid the bomb going off. I don’t think Peter and Claire ever thought he would survive. That is why she was so upset. The recovery is not guaranteed. Claire had to have the stick removed and Peter had to have the glass removed to live again. Bullets fragment and shred the brain turning it to mush, so no one knows for sure if it could be removed if shot into a soft portion beneath the skull.
D) It is very likely Adrian Pasdar returns to portray Nathan as being played by Sylar or Candice and that Nathan is really dead. There is very little reason for the real Nathan to live. His usefulness as a character met its peak when he saved the day. He made his heroic exit.
E) Sylar was not prepared for Hiro stabbing him at the moment he did because Hiro appeared without warning. The timing of the movement in the show left a little to be desired but there were several aspects of the directing that left something to be desired. Better directors would be good for Heroes in general. The writing is good, but telling by some of the comments made on this site and others like it, perhaps better explanation is needed for general audiences in the writing department. They no longer use Suresh and Bennett in explanatory roles because they are more involved in moving the story along. Hiro and Ando used to talk about how tings work, too, but that isn’t happening any more either. They need to reinvest in explaining things because they are losing audience numbers because of things not being obvious. I hate that they might have to dumb it down a tad but if they are creative enough they could do it subtley and not make it suck.
F) Someone is causing Peter to have dreams and/or flashbacks. Perhaps Charles Deveaux, but I don’t think Peter has his own dream ability. It doesn’t make sense with the rest of his powers. Charles Deveaux also might be responsible for Suresh’s dream/flashback sequence from a prior episode. Simone may have an unrevealed power, too. Perhaps she was healed at some point and will reappear. I would like to see Hiro get a chance to go back and save his waitress girlfriend. Maybe once he gets a handle on his powers he can do that. Sylar hasn’t really displayed a use of her memory power. Maybe Hiro saves her and Sylar suffers from loss of memory a sa result as was mentioned on Eonline.com by Kristin.

if you remember in previous flashes to the time of the bomb the explosion happened in the day… sylar and Petrelli met at night, i dont think it is over yet… i do belive the 5 years later episode is 5 years later
the explosion wasnt the bomb that killed everyone, maybe explains how peter got his scar and how sylar becomes nathan?
who knows, bring on season 2

reality, cubed on 22 May 2007:
if you ask me, the second season will probably follow a pattern like this:
peter, after blowing up and killing (yes, killing) his older brother nathan, will fall to the earth and as usual, regenerate back to full health. the realization that he cant control his powers still and that the explosion makes him responsible for his brother’s death will put his character in a sort-of ‘finding himself’ arc, i.e. he’ll be a loner, distancing himself from the people he cares about for fear of harming them due to his lack of experience controlling his abilities and the depression of knowing his brother paid the ultimate price for him.
as for sylar…. im predicting that he’ll remain in the shadows most of the second season; his character will realize that he cant take all the ‘heroes’ on by himself, so he’ll probably either attempt to join forces with or kill/steal powers from the new ‘boogey man’, in order to plan a different, much bigger attack than before. besides, sylar is a more ‘evil genius’ style super villian when you really put it into perspective. he doesnt just mindlessly kill, he does it because he feels entitled to his victim’s powers, which is why i believe he’ll lay low most of the second season and plot his next move–stay under the raidar, if you will.
and nathan… what can i say, the guy got blown to bits pretty much
so i think its a pretty safe bet that nathan the hero will be gone for good, although i definately agree that either sylar or candace to take up the role as congressman, allowing adrian pasdar to remain in the show, just….not nathan. does that make sense?
David E. Lucas on 22 May 2007:
This show has a great history for showing characters apparently dead at the end of one episode then starting the next with a plausible reason why they are not dead. Just like the old movie serials.
Once Peter was a safe distance away and no one else was in danger, Nathan could fly to a safe place then Peter could project the nuclear energy away and escape to a safe place himself, either by flying or teleporting. There’s been nothing to indicate he (or Ted before him) couldn’t direct the energy out of his own body. After all it doesn’t make sense that any mutated special power would override the basic instinct to survive even without the cheerleader’s regenerative power. Plus Peter specifically prognosticated his ability to survive the explosion. You could also make a case that, because of all the predictions the explosion had to happen so knocking Peter out to avoid it was not an option. Besides then you’d've missed that fantastic moment when Nathan swooped in and proved he was a hero, not a villain.
Ashley on 22 May 2007:
Ok, I think that Peter was too busy holding off the explosion to fly away, and Claire could not just shoot him unconcious because what everyone seems to be forgetting is that the last time they shot someone with that particular power he blew up a house.
And I, personally think that it would be good if Nathan does survive somehow because I think that the Petrelli story has a huge role in the whole series and the brother thing kind of contributes to that. I love Peter, but his story is much better with his brother.
I did love the whole nobility thing at the end there though. It was awesome.
As for Sylar, his mother did not make him a villian, she made him want to be a hero rather than the bad guy, as he said at the end to Peter. That’s why we went to kill him. Although I do not think that he is going to be a good guy next year, No no, if anything I think that this has made him worse than ever. They will make it work. I am excited.
Ashley on 22 May 2007:
I don’t think it will be too bad to have Nathan back. I think they could change his character into being a real hero and working with his brother and Claire. I think it would make it really cool in the second season people really start to like Nathan, viewers and Clarie included and then out of no where in the second finale Sylar kills Nathan and takes over. It would be sick. Everyone would be like nOoooo!
hereowannabe on 22 May 2007:
where oh where was the Haitian?…he could have suppressed Peter’s powers, Sylar’s powers etc…to have him drop out of sight with no explanation was far too convenient. At the risk of sounding repetitive, why didn’t Peter just fly away…why didn’t they just shoot him…how convenient for Sylar to have enough strength to be able to use the “force” on Hiro and inadvertently knock him into the 17th century. Why were the streets so bare? No one (except a “heroe”) was even around outside until after everything went down.
I’m a big fan, and I even enjoyed the season ender, but I think they left too many holes in it…and that disappoints an otherwise stellar piece of TV.
shuabi on 22 May 2007:
Squid404 my answer to the question why peter didnt just fly or teleport by himself was because he was too focused on not exploding. another comment on the wishful thinking about Hiro saving his “girlfriend” is that she had like canner or something and was going to die anyways as seen in one episode. also if claire had just shot peter for all we know he could have “gone off” and there goes new york. and i am glad they showed why syler is evil because im sick of people just being evil. if peter and nathans father is really alive like one suggestion, i feel nathan should then also be alive to make a better family conflict. the fact that we find out bennet’s name is noah could also be symbolic in “saving the world” and “eliminating sin” as the biblical noah did. like in the five years episode he is the one protecting the people with powers.
it felt so good to get that all out…i need more friends that like the show. ILOVE HEROES and im really excited about the season one dvd set that comes out August 28th…woot
shuabi on 22 May 2007:
they need to leave holes because then they wouldnt have a season two
veenay on 22 May 2007:
The reason nathan took peter up instead of letting claire shoot peter is because he didnt want her to take that action against anyone. This would be the first time claire would perform a violent act and when nathan said what he was doing would avoid killing someone, he probably was refferring metaphorically to claires innocence. Im probably overthinking it but o well
Eric on 22 May 2007:
Nathan could have lived. Peter could have told him to beat it while he flew himself out of harms way. Nathan may have gotten the hell out of dodge while Peter flew him self in to space. I don’t think Nathan living is TOO far fetched.
Bobby on 22 May 2007:
Nathan will probably be back like everyone has suggested with Candice or Syler, or he IS dead but he is present in volume two within the past, Hiro and Peter can visit him anytime they wanted pretty much. The man ‘worse then the boogyman’ seems a lot like Mrs. Petrelli would be subject #1, but I don’t remember if Molly said HE, or SHE.
The biggest questions probably remain
1. What is Charles Deveaux’s role.
2. Who else was in the old group of heroes?
-Mrs. Petrelli
-Linderman
-Mr. Nakamora
-Charles Deveaux
-???
-???
3. What does that symbol mean? duel S’s with the cut.
4. what the eclipse means, or what does it cause/begin.
We’ve seen it every beginning but this is the first time it has ever been in an episode..
5. Will D.L. or Matt die? (God please not Matt)
6. Will we ever see Jessica again considering Niki is strong enough to use her Super Strength without her.
7. What in gods name could have caused Peter and Niki/Jessica to hook up in the future, even if that might not happen anymore.
8. Will Hiro team up with Ando again? (Please…bring us our Ando back)
9. Will Ando stay powerless? (I hope so, thats what makes him unique)
10. Is the blue samurai Hiro’s dad? (Implying that Mr. Nakamura can also bend time and space)
11. On that note, who is the red samurai clan?
12. Will Hiro fight a dinosaur like the old painting suggested?
13. Will Mr. Petrelli (Their dad) ever be mentioned, and whether or not he is important.
14. Will somebody significant take Nathan’s spot as senator?
15. Why did Mrs. Petreilli want the city to be destroyed so badly, does she really favor Nathan over Peter that much!? That *%^$#, theres got to be a deeper reason. Linderman wanted it just as bad, this could not be just about Nathan…
16. Will Nathans wife ever be seen again, and for what reasons, will her new ability to walk again, what could her role be?
Thats all I can kind of think of for now.

well I feel the Peter has a good hand in everything..
for example he ran into Sylar..meaning he truly would have the ability that Sylar originaly had..which is and always was…the ability too know how things work..
aka. how they tick
Sylar is not going out and Eating” brains..he simply looks at there brains and learns off the bat how it works..he gains instant knowledge
which Peter himself has to realise in order to control his abilities the way Sylar does”..
Anysia on 22 May 2007:
Nathan took Peter up to minimum safe distance, and then he sonic boomed the hell outta Dodge err the sky above New York before the shock wave! (remember when he escaped from Bennet?) His preventing New York from be coming Nuke York was his first step to redemption, not his final one. Isaac painted possibilities, and he saw Nathan as president. Wouldn’t have seen it if Nathan had died in explosion.
Sylar skewered through the heart with razor sharp sword… that would be instantly fatal. Yeah, I know ‘telekinesis’. When I saw the some how less blood than he bled out smear trail to the manhole cover, was hoping some sewer dweller grabbed him, seeing how lifting a manhole cover when dead would have been a mite difficult.
Now we know how Hiro became Ninja Hero with sword, don’t we? But how did he manage to lose the need to wear glasses? Don’t think LASIK surgery was available way back then. Ah, I guess when one learns to use a sword and become all manly the need for glasses disappears.

Just a couple scattered thoughts -
* The only two heroes that can acquire other people’s talents are named Peter and Gabriel (Sylar’s real name).
* Characters with names of prophets of Judism and Christianity: Isaac, Noah, Nathan, Micah, …
I guess we’ll see more of this in the next season.
Hinkakan on 22 May 2007:
Bobby, I cant answer many of those, but:
2: Mr. Patrelli (Peter and Nathan’s dad) was also in the old group I believe. But he gave up, according to Linderman I believe.
6 & 7: Well, in the future, Mica and DL, and even Jessica, if I remember correctly, were dead. Think it was only Niki alive then. But that was what made her so sad. I think, that after Jessica saved Niki, by telling her about Candice, Niki appriciates Jessica more, and they can begin helping eachother instead of figting eachother.
As for the future and them being a couple. Well they were both bitter of their losses. Peter being ashamed and outlawed was hiding out in Las Vegas. Niki mourned for her loved ones. They are the perfect sad couple
8: Well, Hiro gives Ando his sword as security. He said that he would be back. He might do so as early as in season 2.
9: I think Ando will stay powerless. He kinda has a power, he helps Hiro. I think that he might come back to keep Hiro on track. Too remind Hiro of what a “true hero” does.
10: I do not believe that the blue samurai is Hiro’s dad. There have been no indications that the children inherit the exact same abilities as their parents. I belive that the blue samurai might be Kensai. But the eclipse really baffles me.
12: Hiro was never meant to fight a dinosaur. The painting Isaac painted was of Hiro in the Museum where he stole the fake sword. At one point he stood in front of a huge (dead) dinosaur with the fake sword in hand.
13: I do not think that the old Mr. Patrelli will come back. I think he played his part the choices Nathan and Peter make.
15: Well, its all explained in a previous episode, think it was 0,7%. Linderman says, that the old group fought to heal the world, but it wasnt enough. The bomb would “heal” the world. A small percentage of people die, but a unified mankind would arise. I think that Mrs. Patrelli shares Linderman’s opinion here.
16: I believe that the real Nathan is dead. And there wont really be any need for Nathans wife to reappear.
Krysty on 22 May 2007:
Heroes has always borrowed from other epic movies/TVshows/books.
Darth Vader had the Emperor.
Saruman had Sauron.
Why wouldn’t Sylar, who I’m sure is still alive, have another, more powerful ally pulling his strings?
Hyzakyt on 22 May 2007:
Nathan COULD live… if he flew Peter up as high as needed, then dropped him and flew far away, let Peter explode by himself in freefall, then flew back and caught Peter and carried him back to earth. Unfortunately, this doesn’t address the amount of radiation he must have received while carrying Peter in the first place.
Gordo on 22 May 2007:
I think Hinkakan answered Bobby’s questions pretty well, but a few things I’d add:
2&13: If you haven’t already checked it out, you should read the interactive novels on the heros website. It gives some backstory on Linderman and Petrelli (chapters 24-29). No idea whether he will be mentioned in the future.
6: I don’t think Niki ever really existed except in Jessica’s mind (schizophrenic because she watched her sister be abused and killed by their Dad). I think what we saw was Niki reconciling the two sides of herself and learning to control her power without having to be “Jessica”
7: See the interactive novel chapter 32 for how Peter and Niki get together in the future.
10: I think the blue samurai might be Hiro’s Dad. Not sure what power that would give him. More like eternal life than teleporting.
A few more random thoughts:
a. I don’t think Sylar “redeemed himself” by being the good guy as he says to Peter. He wanted the bomb to go off — which is why he stopped Hiro from killing Peter. I thought it was because he knew he’d become president in the future (which is what his Mom told him he could become) except how would he get away from the explosion?
b. My guess is the Sylar will lay low for several episodes next season and come back when we’re not expecting it.
c. I agree that it was the directing/editing that made it look like Hiro had too much of a run up on Sylar who should easily have stopped him. Ando says earlier “You were faster than Sylar” when Hiro saves Ando so I think we’re meant to believe that Hiro used his power to get the sword in the right place — didn’t look that way from the editing though.
d. Great catch 7SecondGoldfish on the biblical names. Not sure how it fits in but the second season should be a great ride!

I agree with Shuabi - they need to leave loose ends to give the writers something to tie volumes 1 and 2 together, remember the series probably hasnt even been written and finalised yet, so we could be applying the Hiesenbergs Uncertainty Principle here changing events while innocently speculating on them. Whether Nathan returns isnt the point, the point is that Nathan DIDNT do what he was supposed to which changed the whole series of events.
Now the point that was made ealier about Hiro seeing the explosion happening in the daytime is significant - thats just too big a plot hole to avoid, considering this series will live on as a DVD classic no doubt like Battlestar and 24, I’d say the writers deliberatly put that Red Herring in there, I mean lets face it, if you distract all the Heroes with a false bomb, it gives the Villans an opportunity to plant a real bomb to detonate the next day… Personally I believe that all the volumes in the story will be influenced by this one bomb, that either does or doesnt go off, depending on which Hiro string your riding.
I do have another plot hole no ones picked up on though - When Noah Bennett and the Hatian pick up Nathan from Lindermans Casino way back in the middle of the series - how come Nathan could fly with the Haitian there to block his abilities? - possibly the Hatian was trying to help him, but I’ve got a funny feeling that the writers just overlooked that aspect to keep the plot going - any thoughts?
PS - thanks for listening to my dribble, I thought episode 23 was pretty spesh!

i know this sounds bad but i truly was a bit disappointed with the finale of heroes. I just thought peter who had started coming into his own and becoming more powerful i.e throwing sylar across the room in a previous episode and stopping bullets etc suddenly reverted back to the meek, mild peter of the begining of the series when other heroes were becoming more powerful such as nicky and hiro

I think that Nathan should be back, Peter needs him to get along. If he does so get back, he should be kind of disfigured or burned because of the direct contact with Peter when he flew away. Micah should be developed more. DL has a cool power, but the writers have not used him too much… Maybe DL phased and took the bullet out of himself.. Ando definitely needs to be back in the show, he’s a hero without powers… he should learn some Laijutsu or Kendo or something like that. Peter should use the other powers he has from Sylar, like the super hearing, the “Melting-of-stuff” power, the cryokinesis… etc. The Haitian needs to be back also. Matt had a bullet proof vest of course. Sylar kicks ass, he’s a great bad guy to have in the show, it would be cool than the tries to kill “the other boogey man”, but not turning good or on the side of the heroes. Hiro’s Dad could be Immortal like a Highlander, and he might even be Takezo Kensei. The Eclipse we saw might be the one who gave or “woke up” the powers of many people since that day. I think’s too much for now.

Does no one recognize the cockroach.. it must have some sort of significance.. when sylar is captured by the company that cockroach, is always blurry eyed straight in the camera, and in the finale, as he crawls/gets dragged (blood looks like dragging) on the sewer lid.. what do we see.. THE COCKROACH!

One thing I still don’t understand is how Peter lives through the explosion. I know all the characters keep claiming he can regenerate, but he can still die. He was dead when the glass was in his head and he told Claire she “knew the spot” where she’d have to shoot him to kill him permanently. If he blows up, does everything but his head blow up? If he completely blew up wouldn’t that destroy the part of his brain with powers and keep him from regenerating after?

Several comments were made that I agree with - I do think that though Nathan’s actor might be back, Nathan himself won’t be, just someone pretending to be him (my guess being Sylar - once he takes that power, at least - as was used in the future episode).
I had to really think about some of the aspects of the finale in order to accept some of the things that happened, though, as some of them seemed a bit… strange. I say that because it has to do with my first comment about Sylar. It did not look like Hiro froze him and stabbed him, he just did it, and from what we know of Sylar, he’s not that slow. But he can see the future. If he perhaps saw beyond that night, saw that he lived through it, he may have taken the hit on purpose so that he could “play dead” and later come back to act as Nathan without anyone suspecting him. I mean, seriously, also as someone else mentioned, Nathan could have survived - fly Peter up, drop him, and fly away, with only a bit of scarring from burns or something - though personally I think that is unlikely (but perhaps more on that later…). And this would be a perfect set up story to tell Peter when Sylar pretends to be Nathan, and it, again, also fits with Peter not realizing that Sylar was Nathan in the future episode.
Personally I will miss Nathan, mostly because I don’t think I’ll like Peter as much without him - the two characters play off each other well and made both of them more interesting. But if he were to come back - the real Nathan, not as a fake - I admit I might be a bit disappointed, even though I never saw any reason why Nathan would die in the first place (due to what I mentioned previously and also I didn’t think Peter would agree to it if he could die in Nathan’s place - shoot him in the head and never take the bullet out). Having him alive now would seem awkward and like a huge helping of good ol’ plot convenience. So though I am a bit disappointed with how the finale was written, I do hope that they don’t try and (for lack of a better term) “fix” it by bringing him back - it just would not fit at this point.
David E. Lucas on 23 May 2007:
A few things first Peter was in control of the power it was his temper he was having difficulty with and Sylar was egging him on stirring up his anger. Laughing at his punches preventing Hiro from helping. He didn’t want to hurt anyone else that’s why he was containing the building up energy. It was the same with Ted he never wanted to hurt anyone so he always contained the energy as much as he could. He was so busy containing himself and trying to control his anger he couldn’t fly on his own. Once Nathan took Peter to a place far enough away that no one else was in danger he could leave, Peter could then let the energy out and get away himself. No regeneration required, and maybe we’ll find out Nathan is immune to radiation.
This new threat who Molly Walker describes as much worse than Sylar could be worse only from her perspective. He’s worse because when she thinks about him - he can see her.
I believe that Hiro and Takezo Kensei are the same person. Hiro grew up idolizing himself. He went back to ancient Japan to do the things that made Takezo a legend.

I believe the significance of Bennett’s name being “Noah” is because his role is to GATHER the Heroes into a powerful united force against evil; just as the Biblical Noah gathered the innocent animals. I’ve read some people have a problem with Nathan’s sudden change of heart. I submit the change wasn’t so sudden. When Nathan told Claire that soon she would understand; he was talking about his plan to save Peter not the justification for allowing New York to be destroyed.
David E. Lucas on 23 May 2007:
Another comment I’d like to make is - Mr. Linderman and Mrs. Petrelli were advocating the bomb based on that painting of Nathan in the Oval Office, but they didn’t know that it was, in fact, Sylar passing himself off as Nathan. A future I assume can not happen, now that Mr. Linderman is dead, the destructive force of the bomb has been avoided and Nathan has gone back to being a hero.
cjluvsu on 23 May 2007:
I believe that Peter COULD have flown by himself…he showed extreme progress and prowess with picking and choosing his powers over the last 3 episodes…but he was frightened…and Nathan didn’t say ‘I’ll help you fly”…he said “I’ll stay with you til the end”…i think he sacrificed his own life (or was willing to) in order to comfort the brother who he knew he had been willing to betray…
as far as Mr. bennett’s name being noah…it has to be important…it was such a singled out kind of scene…
my own personal theory on why peter could live through the explosion is that because his body is the nuclear reaction (if you will) the explosion would be around him, not IN him…it would only be the radiation which would have killed anyone else (ted didnt’ explode when he killed his wife, or when he blew up the house…he only BECAME radiation…) so as long as he could regenerate/recuperate from the intense radiation, he wouldnt even have a scratch on him…but Nathan should have died from being within a mile of him when he went off, or at least i hope so…lol
what i want to know is how did claire/peter/noah know where “the spot” is to kill peter…i feel left out that i didnt know about this…!!!
And did anybody else…seriously…not realize that molly was that little girl that Parkman saved at the beginning of the season until she started talking to him…i totally forgot…duh…
anyway…love this site….love talking about heroes…love this show…and i’ll even watch it if sylar turns into a good guy *yecchhh* and starts making up for his sins next season…

I wouldn’t really be disappointed with Nathan’s return, I mean what if he flew high enough to drop Peter and the flew away before he exploded. There was a good gap of time between when the brothers took off and the explosion, Peter could have held it long enough for Nathan to get away.
I most excited for Sylar’s return though. Zachary Quinto plays the BEST villian in my opinion. Perhaps they’ll make Sylar an anti-hero. That would make sense, he could fight against the new foe along side the other heroes, but only for his own personal gain.
It really doesn’t matter to me what happens I just can’t wait for Heroes to come back!

mikemc on 23 May 2007:
I dunno if its been said already, but it would be a pretty weak story to have sylar somehow survive the stabbing by hiro and his eyes also died out after falling down, so maybe he was dragged to the sewer by the “much worse” villain, who could use one of his unbeknown powers to bring him back. It seems to make sense that nathan could simply fly away and survive, which wouldn’t be a bad thing. Peter has to be back next season if sylar is in the next series, which he must be, or they wouldnt have bothered with the sewerhole bit. It would be interesting to know Noahs plan, but simply using the meaning of the name, taking the animals into the boat until the floods are over, could suggest he is to take people with powers into his saftey, using molly for tracking and parkman also, as in the future episode. Get rid of niki, she’s pretty, but pretty hopeless, micahs talents arnt particularly useful either, just a very efficient hacker. A peter and hiro partnership like in the comics would be ace aswell
Bill on 23 May 2007:
Peter and sylar will of course be back, but I think nathan surviving would be good as well. As well as being a very interesting character, I don’t think we’ve seen all of nathan’s powers. His apparent ‘redemption’ was great, despite his machiavellian nature. And flying has always been a flagship of superheroes, possibly one for leadership of the heroes. Possible, maybe not likely.
Kyle on 23 May 2007:
I hear many people saying that Nathan should not have survived that blast. Yes I agree if he was a normal man. But who is to say flying is his only known power. Remember he did escape from Noah and The Haitian by fling away. I mean if the Haitian can negate someones power how did he fly away? I think there is more the Nathans powers then we know. Remember Cannonball from the Marvel world was invulnerable when he flew maybe Nathan is like that. Hell maybe nathan is just like his brother and doesnt know it and could absorb powers. Hell there is 100000 ideas they could use to bring him back and all of them are just like in the comic books.
As for next Volume. The new boogeyman that Molly is talking about. I dont know who is signed for next year but I haveone person in mind that I havent heard anyone mention as a possibility. I hear Claude alot which I dont get at all since I dont see him being to powerful. The man I think it might be was right under our noses the whole season. Hiro’s father! Why you ask? Well he did say he has been following Hiro’s journey but how can one man follow the journey when the guy he is following is teleporting everywhere, including 5 years into the future. I really think he is an all knowing being of somekind and the reason he wanted Hiro to kill Sylar was to get rid of any threats. Of course thats just my $.02.
ljcoles on 23 May 2007:
WEll I think that the person that Peter cared for has teh same powers as peter has, becuase he said that “it would have been good to have that” when talking about invisibiltiy.
Also that the sensei warrior dude is Hiro’s father becuase, partly the look in teh eye, and also no-one can just learn samai techniques like what he tought Hiro in his office, and also so far the fathers and mothers have all had abilitys before so it would make sense, and I believe it is that he kind of lives forever (becuase it would be stupid for two people to have the same power).
And also yer bring Nathan back its obvious he could have survived, I reckon he fies him up, gets out of blast range then saves Peter before he falls to his splattering death (because if he like smashes into the ground and that part of his braint gets destroyed completely then he wont be able ot regenerate (I guess), so nathan would be the only person that could save him.
I reckon that the characers that will be brought into season 2 will be Claire *becuase she was so dominant in the first season, and shes a pretty face), Sylar and Peter (for obvious reasons, and Hiro becuase he can be the link for everyone.

well peter and nathans dad, didn’t have any powers. According to the comics. which means that their mom might have some and that she might have slept with linderman. Seeing that these 2 should know each other very well, again referring to the comics. I mean If linderman planned Micah he could have done this aswell. I also the the other bad guy molly was referring to might be one of the old Linderman, nathans dad hiros dad group.
Anyways should be interesting. i can understand peter and nathan coming back. But Sylar is dead, they made that clear in the finale. With the mine rewind of his life in his eyes. as for the officer, he is dead and should remain that way. Cant wait for season 2
Kyle on 24 May 2007:
i just rewatched the finale. and there is more to Nathan then people think. When peter says there is no other way to Claire Nathan is no where near them yet somehow he knew what he said. I really think Nathan might have more powers than anyone thinks so he could have survived the blast.
Tanis on 24 May 2007:
When molly mentioned the next bad guy, she was reffering it as a “He/him”, so petrelli’s mother can’t be it. Possible ” far worse than sylar” for me is:
1. Peter and Nathan’s dad
2. The haitian guy
3. Hiro’s dad
4. Charles Deveaux(his words isn’t solidly towards good)
5. Kensei
6. A new villain

Alot of people have asked about the Haitian “cancelling” the powers of others, particularly Nathan’s flying. I never got that he had such a blanket power. His power seems limited to only those involving thoughts. Matt can’t read thoughts, and Eden can’t project thoughts. It seems that he can only block thought communication. Have there been any other examples of him “cancelling” a non-thought power?
Also, the cockroach at the end was a direct reference to the cockroach in Mohinder’s lecture in the very first scene in Episode 1, where he says that the lowly cockroach is the pinnacle of evolution.

Hi heroes fans,
just a couple of things. Have I been the only one that have realized that the cockroach is Sylar?
I think it is what explain how can he appear and vanish suddenly.
The first time he desappeared was after Parkman shout him when Sylar tried to kill the FBI officer. When he was carcelled by the organisation, nobody seemed to be in the cell when the murdered doctor was lying on the “bed”, Mr. Bennet went into the cell and suddenly appeared Sylar.
And in the last episode, I think it is clear that Sylar try to scape turning into a cockroach, that is bleeding to. Too suspicious from my own point of view.
I hope Nathan don’t die, and I hope more heroes and villians appears in the next season.

I think the Haitian is the one Molly is referring to. He did the bolt after helping Claire and Noah, so the ‘Company’ has been after him since - obviously using Molly to track him, but he ’sees’ her and blocks her ability, thus freaking her out.
I think the Haitian can only block ‘mind’ abilities, not physical ones. He blocked Matt, Hiro, Eden, & Sylar (when the company first caught him) & obviously Molly, but couldn’t block Claire (unconfirmed, but not that she was a threat to him), Nathan (he flew away in front of them) nor Peter & Claude when they were invisible (Haitian & Noah had to use heat sensing goggles to see them).
I think Charles is a Dream Master. Even before Peter met Isacc, he was dreaming that he flew when he was caring for Charles. Then in the last episode, he brought Peter back to dream land. I also think that Hiro’s dad maybe immortal and is Kensei himself. Looking at Kensei at the end, I could easily say that it was Hiro’s dad himself
jesus h christ on 28 May 2007:
there are a lot of really good theories here… here’s mine
in one of the first episodes (#5 or #6) when DL first returns and is talking to Micah about comics, they mention the ALL POWERFUL AZULU(that spelling is probablly wrong) from the 9th Wonder comic book. I’m betting that who Molly mentioned. The theory that Hiro’s dad could be this all powerful being is very possible to, as mentioned before, because he claimed to be w/ Hiro the WHOLE journey… which is tough when your going to the past n future. Maybe they’re one in the same, which explains everyone saying he’s Kensei as well.
On a different note… I don’t care if Nathan comes back or not (would be easier to understand if he’s dead) but in the situation that he does return I would think that he has some serious cancer. Ever hug an exposed nuclear object on the brink of explosion? I haven’t either, but I’d assume it’d cause cancer(s). In this season of 24 (b-o-r-i-n-g) a cracked nuclear container promised to kill at least the 10 people that approached it from the radiation. In the event that Nathan (and the others) aren’t prone to cancer, i’d like to see more cigarette smoking in season 2.
p.s.
i’m sooooo pumped about the latina superhero!!!! Hopefully all of her powers will stem from her shapely body.

gavin on 29 May 2007:
Sylar possibly allowed Hiro to stab him, hence the inaction. He knew it was going to happen as he’d seen the comic, and had Isaac’s presient abilities. We know he had an aversion to killing powerless civilians (though the incident with Mom might have cured him of that), so the assumed death and crawling away may have been according to plan.
I just hope Christopher Eccleston will be back.
One possibility for the ‘worse’ villain who looks back at Molly when she sees him, could be the dream kid. Not that the character was played in a particular sinister way at all. Or what about the dead Simone? Or Claire’s birth mother? Or Magneto? No wait, wrong franchise.
gavin on 29 May 2007:
He’s not the roach. The roach was just a resident of the sewer. If he could get away by turning into a roach, why did he blatantly drag himself to the manhole and lift the cover (what ever they’re called), only then to turn into a roach and dance around on the rim? It is suspicious that he keeps vanishing and reappearing. But then, he’s killed lots of people outside our awareness. Though if he can vanish, that conflicts with his genuine surprise whenever somebody else does it.
Why the hell am I even talking about this?
More Chris Eccleston, less fat cop with unconvincing psychic ticks.
gavin on 29 May 2007:
Noah is probably just a biblical reference. He’s the man with the plan, like he said to Claire on the phone from Molly’s lair. He herded everyone, despite opposition from his people (the company). In the now-redundant future he was putting people into hiding to ensure the survival of superkind.
According to the biblical tales, Noah would be the one who believes in preserving the diversity of lifeforms.
gavin on 29 May 2007:
Do Peter and Sylar have the same essential power, with the only difference being that Sylar has the psychological handicap that he needs to have a perve inside the brain to feel that he can understand and utilise others’ abilities? Because he was a clock repairer, perhaps he feels he needs to understand a thing logically before he has the confidence to throw himself into action. Whereas Peter is just a born dreamer, who’s only requirement for action is faith. Hence the reason Peter would be less adept at handling the powers than Sylar as he has less of a grasp on their workings. It’s science versus faith.
I guess the roach could also have been a subtle reference to the cliche that they’d be the only living thing to survive a nuclear holocaust. Or perhaps it was just a more interesting, and gritty, ending than a simple zoom to a bloody manhole.

I have read through several of these post and they are very interesting. One thing that was not mentioned that may not have any relevance, but i was curious about, was in an early episode when Parkman found Molly. robbfan2 on 30 May 2007:
There are a lot of really good theories posted here. Also a few really poor ones but that is to be expected. I think we are too caught up in good and evil, hero or villian. The basis is evolutionary imperitive, survival of the fittest at the core. Morality is grand but it is a veneer over the core. Look at the conflict that Hiro and Peter have gone through this current season. They were and still are weak because they are trying to retain their civility and morality. That is good but it did and does leave then vulnerable to lesser powers. Hiro’s father is fully aware of this weakness in his son.. This is why he waited and watched his son so long before revealing himself. Hiro made that journey in the five year episode. He became someone who put aside what we call morality and learned that killing and even acting in a terrorist manner was a path that he could follow for the survival of others like himself and the future of humanity. It is very hard to sacrifice lives on the alter of these things but he had to find the strength to do it or all would be lost. He had to be willing to sacrifice himself, and his civility and morality to the greater good. If he had not been willing then he would have been lost and his life and his powers would come to nothing. It is the height of selfishness for him to have retained that innocence and morality at the cost of the entire cause. This visit to the past that he is now entering should finish off the boy and harden him into the man he is to become.
Peter is still on this journey. He needs to learn to control his emotions and to harden up as well. He needs to learn to rely on his own powers and intellect and intuition. Much as Claude told him earlier in the season. His lack of control over these things is what may very well have cost him his brother Nathan. Syler egged him on and losing control is what almost destroyed New York. He has to become self reliant and learn control. He can keep his goodness but he has to learn that there are consequences to actions and that he is not responsible for saving everyone. He has to learn, like Hiro that he has to pick his causes and be prepared to accept the positive and the negative consequences. He has to accept that there will be sacrifices and his brother might very well be the first and the hardest. In the five year episode he has learned these lessons and it showed in his control and in his actions.
Syler on the other hand had no real problem seeing what he wanted and reaching out and taking it. He shed his humanity and morality in his quest for power. He very quickly gained power and earned his spurs as a super villian. Why? Because he knows how things work. He is brilliant. He used his veneer of civility and morality as a cloak to fool his prey and others he could use to get him what he desired most. He gained entry to his victims using his mild manner and then attacked savagely. He fooled both Dr Suresh’s to gain access to more prey. He let nothing stand in his way certainly not morality or civility. Most people expect the veneer and few read beneath the surface. Humankind is bound by these rules of behavior and therefore are vulnerable to those who do not follow them. That is why great societies fall to less evolved civilizations. It frightens people to see how savage other humans can be.. look at the reaction of the police and the FBI to sylars crimes. An almost refusal to look at the crimes and see them for what they are. We don’t even have to get into the impossibility of accepting the abilities deemed out of the ordinary. Look at how quickly Matt was dropped by the FBI and his ability was disregarded by his partner.
Good and evil exist but there are so many shades of grey that it takes experience and control to determine the greater good. This season it became obvious that leaping before looking is not a good plan. The older generations could be invaluable to this generation in teaching control and forward thinking just as Claude helped Peter. Let’s hope that this will happen again in the upcoming seasons.
Anyway enough of this. I can’t wait until next season. I do not really care who comes back or doesn’t the show will go on and I will continue to watch it.

Actually I do think that both Peter and Nathan will be back….how would Nathan survive? Well for one thing…Nathan can fly at supersonic speeds…so when I picked up Peter into the sky, there is a chance that he then flew away from the blast…could very well be a possibility…I mean think about it. His wife just got her disability healed and they don’t show her during the explosion, so it kind of leaves you in the dark. I mean, his wife wasn’t important to him? I think she is, regardless of the deception about her from Nathan during his campaign. I don’t know…can wait for Volume Two to start.

People are writing that the boogey man may possibly be the Hatian. But could it be that the Hatian and Molly are somehow linked and team together. When the Hatian leaves the mark on people, maybe that helps Molly with her abilities, since she can only track people that she remembers (ie. someone she has met or seen) Also they were both brought into the organization at an early age, so that may further link the two.

Hi
I think, these theories are pretty good, but one thing no thought about was….
Sylar’s original power is to know how things work. Right?
And Peters original power is to absorb powers from others when in close proximity to them. RIght?
So to cut a long story short…Shouldnt Peter have absorbed Sylars original power and thus also know how things work, Because essentially is it not Sylars power the reason why he has the ability to wield the powers he steals??? And thus wouldn Peter therefore also have this abilty for having come in close proximity to Sylar many time????
Any ideas???
Rachel on 1 June 2007:
Well here Is what I have to say about the new season of heroes, I think that Peter should come back in the new season. That is because A) he can absorb powers and that is really cool. B) He is one of my favorite characters next to Claire, Molly, Matt, and even Nathan. and C.) If Nathan dies there will be at least one good person to protect her, because I really can’t stand Mrs. Petrelli because she actually wanted the bomb to really happen. Oh and before I forget I hope that Sylar doesn’t not come back because I really didn’t like him all that much and that is because he tried to kill Claire, Peter , Matt, and I also think that he was going to try and kill sweet, little, innocent Molly Walker. I also hope that Mrs. Petrelli does not come back in the next season because she really was getting on my nerves and she told Nathan that it was a good thing that the bomb was going to go off, or at least I think that she was telling Nathan that. I also really really hope that Matt comes back and that is because he is one of my favorite characters and he was also protecting sweet and innocent Molly Walker and that has got to account for something. I also would like to see Mr. Bennet in the next season of heroes which I found out is coming back is September. I also would like to see Niki Sanders and Micah Sanders come back because they are pretty cool characters.
Jacob Heinrich on 2 June 2007:
Has anyone thought…
1. Nathan is toast unless he is wearing sunblock 1 million. If you want confirmation then try hugging a man sized rod of plutonium, let alone a bomb that is going off. If Nathan survives it is because the writers have elected to give him plot driven ‘immunity to radiation poisoning sickness and burns’.
2. The cockroach is no co-incidence. And it isn’t just a bookend for the first season. Sylar has used his original ability to see how things work and adapt himself to mimic how things work to gain some of the surviveability of the cockroach. Not as good as straight regeneration but if you can modify your own brain with your ability then why not your own body.
3. They need to get John Woo in to do some decent fight scenes. The fight at the finale was lame. Hiro just looked like some sad geek with a samurai sword fixation.
4. How does a time-manipulator ever lose? Hiro’s power will have to continue to be unpredictable until the series finale (assuming he makes it) otherwise this becomes about as interesting as Superman vs. a brain dead guy in an iron lung. Think about it… Danger appears (lets say Sylar) … time stops as Hiro casually saunters up to Sylar and cuts his head off of his shoulders, chops him into little bits, set light to the bits with a handy can of gasoline he teleported away to find, then restores time and makes himself a relaxing chai latte.
5. If Sylar has the ability that he killed Hiro’s waitress friend for then he can just submerge himself in a library until he emerges as ‘John Doe’ (from the series John Doe) Kind of like MacGyver on brain steroids. This memory ability is much more dangerous than people give credit for. Imagine having every fact you ever read stored in your head for instant recall. Now start making the connections between facts and then see how dangerous you are. In my opinion this would make Sylar pretty much unstoppable and I think the writers may have thought that one through by now. They probably thought that a memory power would be fairly lame but hadn’t done the math.
6. According to the ‘ peter only needs to be in proximity to gain the ability’ theory, Peter petrelli now has (in no particular order)..
a. flight
b. nuclear radiation power
c. regeneration
d. telekinesis
e. sylars ability to see how things work
f. super memory
g. cyrokinesis
h. super hearing
i. invisibility
j. super strength
k. turning solids to liquids
l. telepathy
m. Mr Deveaux’s power
n. Mrs. Petrelli Snr’s power
o. see and paint the future
p. time-travel, teleportation
Not many letters left in the alphabet. This is going to be a writers problem if they don’t keep Peter either an emotional mess, unsure of himself and his abilities, or unless they hit the re-set switch with him. A sensible use of those powers alone makes him impossible to realistically beat. His only serious challenge bar Sylar eating Hiro’s brains is Hiro Nakamura, in which case it is just a game of quick draw to see who stops time first. Actually even that may not work considering that Peter seems to be the only one not effected by Hiro’s stop time power.
Well that’s my thoughts
I’m looking forward to hearing what you guys think
C Keg on 3 June 2007:
Sylar was draged away by s omeone who works for the “company”. The hatian is going to erase his memory, and they are going to lock him up and force him to paint the future for them.
Kyle on 3 June 2007:
Jacob you raise some interesting points. The one I was most interested in was the waitress one. I dont think he exactly killed her so he could read books tho. I think he killed her so that he could learn the abilities he was gaining faster. Kinda like if Peter ever met her he may have been able to learn powers faster and learn to control them. If Sylar never killed her maybe he would have had the same problems that Peter did.
Also you said about Nathan hugging a Plutonium rod. Well, on that subject yea I understand that. But remember all the heroes were in close proximity of Peter even Hiro. Your as close as a block to Peter your pretty much screwed. Like I said in a previous post tho. I think there is more to Nathan then has been shown already. The writers only have to say he invincible while flying and the bear hug they share in flight doesnt matter.
Of course they could just bring that actor back and have Candance working for Mrs. Petrelli in place of Nathan. I mean afterall Mrs. Petrelli was working with Linderman and Candace was working for Linderman so that makes sense.
Who knows what will happen tho. I mean the writers can write what they want to suit their needs for next season and it comic book world it will all make sense. Lets just enjoy it!
Kyle on 3 June 2007:
OOOOOO and for the cockroach thing. I think its just to symbolize that Sylar is alive. That he is like a cockroach and will do whatever to survive.
Rachel on 3 June 2007:
Hi Everybody,
Well I just wanted to let everybody know that I think that It would be cool for Nathan to survive with Peter.
See the thing is that If he does survive will he go into politics like he was orginally going to do or will he be with his daughter Claire? I really hope that he does not pick politics over his own daughter because that would not be right, but I guess that would just be his mother encouraging him to do so. Anyways I also hope that Molly and Micah become friends because well Molly has an awesome power and so does he so I think that It would be cool for them to become friends. Well the last thing is that I hope that Peter and Nathan’s mother does not come back in the next season because I really can’t stand her. Then again I am not the director or incharge of any part of the show so I really don’t get to decide. Well for now anyways this is what you will hear out of me for tonight, So talk to you all later
Bye.
Signed,
Rachel
A true fan of Heroes since I have started watching the show
Bob on 5 June 2007:
Well watching such a great movie and the many branches this movie can be made in everyway possible. End of how to stop an exploding man shows that syler being a hard ca ca roach to kill and alone only have his own selfish wants I do not see him combinding forces with anyone he lives only to consume thats that.
As for Pete and Nate I am sure they both live being that Nate can fly at such speed shown in the show could out run a bomb I’m sure hes has some exp of his ability in the past.
And If I had an ability to blowup and regen I am sure its gonna take awhile to put all the pieces back together maybe afew years no tellin.
Anywho I did like the idea when Molly said there is someone more scary then syler that was very cool someone much more dangerous like a force not to be messin with.
Someone who is waitting for just the right time and make his grand entrance as a an almost unstoppable force. LOTS of aspects I see this movie to become, more then a 2 part series more like 4 or more. possiblitys are almost endless.
What would my super power would be if I had a pick?
I’d like to be like Nate because shown in the movie , he can take on anyones ability once already come in contact with him. Even when they are not around. Watch the movie people again cause the invisible man is pretty wise about controllngs ones powers. Great show Thanks for making it wish I could have come up with it , if I had people backing me I may have lol. Cough Make the wiz-kid who had the power to control eletronics also beable to become more than…..I’ll leave it at that its just one of the ideas I have for -Heros-

I haven’t read all the responses, so I can’t say if someone else has already written what I am about to say.
Ever thought Nathan just gave Peter a lift? Launched him into the stratosphere, maybe, and stayed back and watched?
That was my theory. I don’t think Nathan was dead at all.
Enjoy.

personally, i find that shows have a tendency to loose serious steam after fantastic starts, becoming hackneyed and dead boring.
heroes is a great show. i was hooked from the first episode. but if there was no second season? i would be happy (that means it can’t get worse) and it would go down into my annuls as one of the greatest tv shows of all time.
that being said - bring on season two!!! i can’t wait to see how they develop some of the regular characters in the show. hopefully, the writers are taking pointers from some of the great ideas posted here.
Redeemed on 12 June 2007:
where the heck is this show going? hiro landing in 15th century japan? where are the writers taking us? haven’t the heroes already saved the world? wasn’t that the whole premise of the show?
as much as i love ‘heroes’, i’m dreading season two. the last four or so episodes of season 1 (as enjoyable as they were) were already showing signs of wear and tear and was a bit holey - like the writers were tired of writing. and the final episode was kinda anti-climactic. despite the big bang in the end, i was expecting a whole lot more action.
we can speculate about who they will bring back from season 1 and who will be added to the cast in season 2 all we want, but where is the story going? is it going to be more about saving the world? are they going to fight crime? what?
adding too many new characters to the script will make it too cumbersome and character development will suffer. in x-men, the comic became so overloaded with mutants, they were no longer special, and the bounds of imagination were stretched to breaking point that it was no longer enjoyable. hopefully that will not happen with ‘heroes’.
but entertainment history does not say that. entertainment history says the makers of this show will try too hard and end up ruining and perfectly good show - and we all know that history is doomed to repeat itself.
PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG TIM KRING!!!!

“The future is not wrtitten in stone”, remember?
C’mon!! You guys want Sylar back but not Nathan?? The guy saved the day, and he probably changed the future by not following Linderman’s instructions. Give Nathan a second chance.
Besides it should be a very original way to twist the all story to make Nathan back, I believe he plays a bigger roles than that, there is a reason why Linderman and the rest of his group choose him to be the one, not just because he can fly.
About Peter…I think we knew he was coming back, right? He’s a show’s fav and probably the center character of the story. And we also know that he can survive just like they showed us in the chapter about the future.
Too many questions…..I can’t wait for seas
