SPOILER Concerning Mohinder Suresh in Season 3

By Sam | July 29, 2008 (9:29 am)

As always, the SPOILER tag is being used with this post, so do not read on unless you want to know something that was recently spoiled in our mega decka posting on the Season 3 premiere episode (read that here if you’re so inclined for mega spoilers). The following is from Kristin over at E! Online, and she sort of reveals a very interesting bit about Mohinder that have already been spoiled, but nothing that has been made “public” i.e. through one of NBC’s promos for Season 3. Read on at your own risk.

Okay, so you’re still here.

The spoiler about Mohinder Suresh’s character in Season 3 is that he gets powers by injecting himself with a syringe. What’s in the syringe? I’m not really sure, but according to the spoilers, it’s something extracted from the adrenal glands of heroes (in this case, Maya), and will give anyone who injects it powers. Basically, instant powers in a needle.

Hmm, kinda makes it sound like a drug, huh? Would they have to keep injecting themselves? And would they get the same powers again after every injection, or new powers each time? This sure opens a whole new can of worms…

But anyways, so Mohinder will end up with powers in Season 3. In fact, he gets super strength in the premiere episode of Season 3. What then? Here’s Kristin:

Halo in St. Paul, Minn.: I would love to hear something about Heroes!

How about some Mohinder dish? As was revealed in the Comic-Con screening of the season premiere, Mohinder (Sendhil Ramamurthy) is getting powers, and I can tell you that the powers you see exhibited at the end of the finale are not the end of the story. Before too long we’ll see him exhibit a nifty power that he shares with one of the top five comic-book superheroes of all time. Care to guess which hero and which power? (Here’s a hint: Homer Simpson had a pig version.)

If she’s talking about the Simpsons movie, Homer Simpson had a Spider-Man version of a pig. But he also dressed the pig up as Harry Potter. Since Kristin mentions that it’s a “nifty power” that “one of the top five comic-book superheroes of all time” possesses, I think I’m leaning towards Spider-Man. So aside from super strength, can Mohinder now climb walls? Well, that would certainly make sense. Wasn’t he dangling from the ceiling in one scene from the “Choose a Side” promo…?

Of course, she could be talking about one of Homer’s many pets on the show, so …

Update: Better high-res versions of the picture below with Mohinder via ODI.

special blood WOW this show was the coolest in season one and season 2 was ok but this whole blood thing is making the show stupid. At first i couldnt wait for the show to come back on . i was excited. now that ando and suresh are getting powers (really) unbelievable actually unexceptable they shouldnt be able to get powers from blood it truly makes sense that genetics are the only way to be special im sorry but this show is going down and in a bad way

If Surresh gets powers from Maya’s blood, than did Noah get powers from Claire’s blood? The premiere spoilers said he was in a holding cell next to the guy cliaming to be Peter Petrelli. Did Bennet allow the company to experiment on him to protect his daughter? Why else would they keep him in a cell and not use him in the field. If they give Mr. Bennet powers, I will be pissed. The blood injection idea sounds kinda dumb.

The only explanation I can offer to the Mohinder getting abilities thing is that he has special blood. Hence the reason Noah didn’t get powers. Remember when he gave his blood to Molly and she got better. He could have been an unwilling test subject for Chandra and his work on the Shanti virus. This is all specualtion by the way. I have nothing hard to go on. Would be neat tho if this was all right

im glad you guys agree. I forgot about noah i dont know what the writers are thinkin they should do what the lost producers and writers do . goto all these heroes forum sites and look into what the fans want and deliver it cuz im sure there gonna lose more fans than they already have if they really do this and plus sylar’s not a villian no more he’s a petrelli if that rumor is true im really done watchin the show i mean if he’s just a petrelli thats cool but he needs to be evil that’s very mportant to the show is to have one constant evil and one good other people can join in and be killed off

Anne on July 29, 2008

Yeah sylar as a good guy seems ilogical. If he is good, it better be because he is temporarily brainwashed from a level five facility or something like that. The rumor that he takes Claire’s power and she still lives sounds like a dumb idea. If she really can’t be killed, than neither can sylar, peter, or anyone else injected with her blood. The show needs to be able to have characters die to keep it’s edge. I heard Linderman, niki, and nathan are not really dead. Why don’t they just have simone, ted, and issac come back too.(irony)

I’m also against a few things in the upcoming season, for example, those without power suddenly having some and Syler turning good, etc, but I’ll ignore them lol.

Even though they’re starting to give normal people powers on the show I don’t think Noah Bennet needs powers. For the past two seasons they have shown how dangerous and powerful he can be without even having any abilities. The company goes through a lot more security and risk with him than other dangerous people in the show. If he got an ability I think the company would believe he’d be more dangerous than Syler, of course that’s my opinion.

This show is turning its characters into the Characters-That-Never-End. Boring. I understand that Adam/Kensei and Claire are practically immortal. That’s fine, because it’s just two characters. Now, Peter and Sylar have joined the ranks…okay. I can deal with them too. But now, anyone can have an ability due to Maya’s blood; and thanks to Claire/Adam’s blood, it transforms people into people who can never die. Hence, my nifty title for them at the beginning of my rant.

Heroes started out really great, because it was ordinary people in ordinary circumstances finding out about themselves. Now, it’s lets think of the most implausible situation and make it somewhat plausible. I’m really upset about Mohinder (and possible Noah) having powers by injection! That’s just…whatever. I really liked his character, but the writers are making me not like him anymore. He’s no longer doing the intro and now he’s turning into spider boy. Oh well. I just hope this all works out somehow. I’m starting to get depressed.

You folks don’t pay attention/read well do you?

1. The healing from a regeneraters blood works one time. It’s a one time fix. It doesn’t give anyone a power.

2. Suresh isn’t using ‘magic blood’. He finally figured out what Sylar has known all along - the exact chemical mechanism of how the powers work, and he figures out how to duplicate the chemical compound. It doesn’t magically/permanently give someone powers, but it allows them to be replicated for a short time. It doesn’t give a persons body the ability to actually ‘produce’ the power.

It makes perfect sense and they had to go there eventually. It will be like a drug addiction and a big issue that they will have to deal with/stamp out etc.

Camz on July 29, 2008

We haven’t even seen it yet and everyone’s already judging the whole season. Go figure.

I’ve read somewhere that it’s not blood exactly, but a chemical part of Maya’s genes. That makes more sense, actually.

But I have to agree with y’all, they really do need to just let some of the characters die.

Its just a comparison. The writers did say we’d visit the more scientific natures that cause powers, and Mohinder is going to be reclassifying the nature of these powers which sounds tedious, but at the same time quite fascinating that they’re addressing things on that level.

I expect Mohinder will tinker around with the chemicals and come to a firm conclusion before never doing it again. But I doubt Bennett and Ando will get powers in a similar way.

thank you jon and i do try to follow lost it gets a little confusing at times but still could hold the title over heroes on which one is the best show. especilly if they give powers to just anyone.
oh and
RDANNEEL. ON THE BENNETT ONE TIME FIX YOUR PROBLY RIGHT. WELL FOR HEROES SAKE I HOPE YOU ARE.
BUT how do you no suresh found a chemicle in maya. did you read it or make it up or was the person you read it from make it up. i only say this because you sound so sure that it’s a chemicle and not just a writers mistake to make a good show crappy. but if your right on the temporary power thats awesome but it’s still dumb to give character’s who really dont need them any type of power especially h.r.g cuz he’s bad a** anyway.

1. On the regeneraters blood only working as a one time fix - the actor who plays HRG actually specifically pointed this out in an interview. I believe it was also addressed by the writers in one of the ‘behind the eclipse’ interviews. It’s meant to be a miraculous benefit of a regeneraters ability, but not an endless ‘get out of jail free card’.

2. On the nature of how Mohinder is able to replicate abilities - If you read the detailed breakdowns of the first hour of the season 3 premier that people have posted from seeing it at comic con this is made very clear.

Another thing that the writers pointed out is that Peter does not regenerate constantly like Adam and Claire, and thus is not ‘immortal’ like them.

Guys, i think it will be a cool idea for mohinder to have powers and ando and HGR to have powers would be even cooler because just think about it, there is going to be alot of villains coming i hear and i also here there will be some heroes turning into villains so there has to be more heroes to fight the villains it has to be a even fight you know

Saravy on July 30, 2008 Subscribed to comments via email

RDaneel thanks for clarifying. I’m glad that Peter does not constantly regenerate like Adam and Claire. It makes the show more interesting. My question now is, what about Syler? Will, he now have the same power? I’ll have to go back and see, but I thought he could manipulate his DNA to “take on” people’s abilities? That’s what HRG was saying in season 1 when they captured Syler. So that would mean he would have the same capabilities as Adam and Claire. I can’t wait to see how Nathan survived the shot from future Peter. Since it wasn’t Adam’s blood, maybe Peter didn’t shoot to kill. ^_^

I knew how Mohinder would be able to replicate abilities, I just didn’t realize it wasn’t permanent. As for Mohinder becoming an “ability-junkie,” that will be interesting. If it’s a one-time use, I wonder if HRG and Ando will have the same addiction problem; though, like genesis was saying HRG is pretty formidable without an ability.
It would be hard not to be addicted, as the stuff is coming from the adrenal glands.

Also, the injection of powers could have serious side-effects on your system if and when it wears off. We may even lose someone to the health-damaging effects of power addiction.

good call. patrick . if they had sideaffects from injecting themselfs the show would be cool again because that would be a good 4th volume hrg and ando and suresh all go psychotic and try and kill the heroes but they cant lol and now peter has to find away to undo all of this (like go back intime and stop volume 3 from happening and come up with a better plot for suresh)

Didnt know Noah was getting powers thats kinda lame same with ando, wouldnt mind suresh getting some via injection and then we would get all power hungry like sylar then he would realize hes becomeing like sylar and tries to stop taking peoples blood or something and they didnt make it clear if Mohinder took it from maya im thinking he actually took it from niki makes more sence cuz why would he gain a totally different power? And im also thinking that niki had the other secret ability that mo gets as well but she didnt know about it just like parkman realized he could control thoughts later on…and i also think the secret ability would be super agility like spiderman has cuz agility and strength go together. As for ando getting a power that was seen in a future episode so he might not actually have it just in an alternate future, he was supposed to die in one future… and i think Noah gettin powers is just a rumour think about it if Mohinder told anyone about him being able to take and adapt powers then everyone would do it and Mohinder wouldnt do that he doesnt really trust anyoneif anyone found out it would be bad news.

that my opinion anyways cant wait for season 3 :D

Look at the bigger picture guys, Sylar finally has a point to existing other than stealing powers, after a while that gets old…People love the Sylar character the writers are giving you what you want. HRG for me is the equivalent of Batman, no powers but can put down superman if he needs to. Mohinder is the brother of someone who had powers he may just be bringing his locked ability to the surface by injecting him self for example if someone tried to inject mr. muggles or Clairs brother who has less air time than the dog(Christ it must really suck to be him). Then maybe nothing would happen or something really bad might happen some hideous mutation. I think I read somewhere that Peter doesn’t regenerate like Clair and Adam but I don’t remember anyone saying he is NOT immortal like them. The biggest thing creating plot holes is the whole time travel bit in every season hard to stay consistent…Oh STOP comparing Heroes to Lost or any other show, Heroes is a whole NEW concept it’s just a baby give it time to grow. It hasn’t even started and already it’s being jugged? I remember when people thought Hiro’s ability would ruin the show and another time it was Sylar. Give them a chance.

I’m gonna agree with Tarot and
Heroescrazy. The damn season hasn’t started yet and you are already passing judgment on it because of what happened last season. The writer’s strike ruined that, if you actually read what that season was supposed to be about you might not hate it so much. So either watch the first two episodes and THEN judge the show or you can make up you own story in your head, realize how bad of a story teller you are and then hate the show for a theory that YOU made up. By all means though, watch LOST, the show where the name has a dual meaning. (i hope at least one person gets what i meant by that).

First off, Mohinder get the bloodor whatever from supposedly maya’s adrenal gland. perhaps HRG’s blood transfusion wasn’t blood from claires glands.

ive seen the first 15 min of the first episode bootlegged from the screening(youtube). mohinder discovered that the abilities dont come from the blood but the adrenal gland. he mustve extracted the chemical process of abilities and started injecting himself. it doesnt mean anyone can get powers through blood. only mohinder and syler understand the process.

syler already knew the secrets of abilities. hes original power is super intuition. he can see how everything works. when he cuts open peoples brains he sees how their powers work and copies it. (its revealed how syler gains others powers)
claires blood just has her healing factor it wouldnt have that adrenalin stuff to give others powers.

the whole peters regeneration thing is interesting. hes able to regenerate like adam and claire but its not as powerful. if the future peter(whos more developed in his abilities) cant regenerate that scar than he cant be immortal. the future peter has complete control of his abilities but since hes regeneration is not as powerful than all his other abilities arent as powerful as the originals. i wonder what that means for sylar since hes power is similiar but different from peters

Please don’t tell me it’s going to be more bad writing. The only way you could get an ability by an injection is for it to change you at the genetic level. That kind of alteration tends to be premanent when the genetic change manifests.

In the third season, Mohinder is able to isolate the source of powers (located in the adrenal glands) and injects himself with a formula he creates based on that. The formula imbues him with increased strength, agility, balance, athletic ability, and heightened senses. However, because the formula is incomplete, as revealed in “I Am Become Death”, his body begins to mutate, developing bug-like attributes which begin with lesions on his back and shoulders. His fingers also begin to secrete a sticky, web-like substance. These mutations were, according to writers/producers Joe Pokaski and Aron Coliete, inspired by The Fly, a film in which a scientist’s DNA is spliced with that of a fly, resulting into his eventual transformation into a giant fly.

Mohinder finds that he is unable to develop a cure for either his condition or Maya’s power, though he lies about it to Maya. Unable to control his aggression, he breaks up a fight with a neighboring couple and brutally beats the man’s head against the wall. When the man comes looking for payback later on, Mohinder overpowers him and pulls him into the lab, encasing him in a cocoon made from the substance his fingers secrete. He does the same to several others, going so far as to kidnap a drug dealer from a park and drag his body back to his loft. When Maya discovers this and calls him a monster, he cocoons her as well.
