More on Season 3 Villain Daphne aka Joy aka Hiro’s Joker

It looks like Tim Kring and company have pulled a fast one — they’ve changed the name of the Season 3’s new speedster villain from Joy to Daphne, or at least according to a recent article on actress Brea Grant. The article also has Grant mentioning that she will be a true villain in the show (I had expected her to be something of an anti-hero ala Elle), and an arch nemesis for Masi Oka’s Hiro. Or as she puts it, Masi Oka’s Joker. With that in mind, it certainly would seem to indicate she’ll be around for a long time, ala Sylar.
From the AP via LexGo, Grant talks about how her Daphne first meets up with Masi Oka’s Hiro:
“I’m stealing a secret that’s been kept in Hiro’s family for a long time that he’s just now found,” Brea Grant told The Associated Press during a break in filming on location in a high-rise building in downtown Los Angeles. “He stops time right as I grab it, but in that second it took him to grab it, I almost make it out of the office.”
And about being the Joker to Masi’s Batman:
“Her character is supposed to be Hiro’s Joker,” said Masi Oka, who plays Hiro. “Batman has The Joker. Hiro has Daphne. This is the season where Hiro finally finds his arch nemesis, and it happens to be this Speedster. I kind of equate it more to Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, except Daphne says more than ‘meep-meep.’”

smart move keep the audience on their toes. I like the type of villian they’re building her off of. Should be fun.

My guess is that it’s Tim Kring and company’s way of maintaining some semblance of control over the show. Once a character is leaked, it’s kind of hard to change the character itself, so they just change the name, which is a relatively simple thing.
I think Joy / Daphne has superspeed. I haven’t been on here in a while, so you guys might be way ahead of me, though.
So what if they changed the name? Either name is cool in my books. And whoever said that Joy wasn’t a realistic name: I’ve known plenty of Joys in my time. But hey.

oh..and hate her character no matter how they call her.
The more characters the better. I can’t wait for the season to start and get the stories behind these new faces. Too me it just means more seasons. I’m with that. Plus she’s cute too.
Could she possibly be Adam’s new bride, out for revenge? Who else could possibly hate Hiro, he’s adoreable.
