More on Claire’s College Relationships, Nathan’s Past
Michael Ausiello over at Entertainment Weekly has written two more scoops on the upcoming Heroes Season 4 (set to premiere in September), including more information on Claire’s relationship with her roommie (and yes, it appears to be of the romantic variety), and something about Nathan’s childhood. He also has the definitive word from Hayden Panettiere herself about rumors that she wanted out of the show at the end of last season. In a word, it’s not true. So let’s move on to the scoops.
On Claire and her new college roommie Annie, to be played by Rachel Melvin:
I’m not sure about a full-blown relationship, but I can confirm that the college roomies will engage in a little Sapphic experimentation. At least that’s the plan.
He adds “at least that’s the plan”, perhaps saying it could change? The last time Heroes attempted anything involving the sexuality of a character, it was pretty much a disaster. Remember Zach?
About Nathan and his past:
Remember me telling you that producers were casting an 11-year-old version of Nathan? Well, thanks to Adrian Pasdar, now we know why! “I absorb a memory from an article of clothing that sends me back in time to when I was 11,” he explains. “Something happened to young Nathan but old Nathan doesn’t remember it. How can that be? It has to do with a character we have met before.”
Remember, it’s not really Nathan, it’s actually Sylar in Nathan’s body, thinking he’s Nathan…

yes lesbianism and experimentations sexually is all this show has left. yes we all know they have powers but do we really ever see them use it. no! and now that bryan is gone again lesbianism is all this show has to hang on to. like ive been saying for along time this show is a dead end. this is probably there k=last season
I don’t care what sexual preference any character has as long as the show keeps going strong with the stories and the powers. and besides Heroes seems to be pretty good about listening to fan input so they might not even do it since people have complained since the rumor started. I don’t see what the big deal is either way wether Claire is kissing a boy or a girl shouldn’t even matter to any of you because you’ll never get her anyway

Actually, it’s not even about wanting her like that. In fact, the problem comes from the development seeming rather random. If there was some clear foreshadowing to it (not the shippy-type stuff uberfans like to read too much into and make silly slashfics about–but real canonical/deliberate teases to it) then that would be different. The whole thing really depends on how delicately and believeable the writers can make it out to be–which at the rate they’ve been going with things, I don’t put much faith in them -_-”"
On the other hand, I am interested in seeing where the childhood storylines with Nathan–Naylar, Sylathan, whatever we’re calling him these days– and (supposedly) Hiro are going.
I think everyone’s goin overboard with claire having lesbian tendencies. I could also be possible that her roommate is attracted to her in that way and Claire isn’t. Simple!

Yeah I am thinking it’s over well it is for me if they add that crap on there. I mean seriously woman already get enough crap being second class citizens and now they want to make them third class? Seriously shame this show does not focus on stuff like it did in the first season. Heroes was a great show but I can not like it anymore having to puke once in every episode I watch.
I’m willing to wait and see where and how this all goes, though I will admit some of the rumors I’m not crazy about.

I DO love HEROES, and can’t complaint about anything like a lot of people who do it and still keep watching every episode.
No, what the frick, i can hardly bear to watch straight kissing scenes, not that I’m against gays or anything but claire is definatly not gay. Heroes is the best ever, i could hardly stand it if this happened, i wouldn’t watch any of the Claire scenes.
I never write on these things but felt the need to comment… why do so many people write on here just to slag off heroes…(on a fan site)… seriously go sit on a rusty nail and watch something else I love heroes even season 2 and life is unpredictable so should the show be… its not a detective movie where you gather clues and then predict the most obvious story… MORONS!

lol, chances are it was His idea. He said himself he was going to introduce a gay character. I'm not sure I'd put it past him, as he's gay himself.
But I would still hope he of all people would know Claire shouldn't suddenly be gay, it completely goes against her character. I'd rather they kill her before doing this to her.
still, I'm hoping there's something about how this turns out that I'll look back and laugh at. maybe their exaggerating somehow. maybe Claire just pretends to be gay for one scene or something to make a point, or prove someone guilty of something bigger.
I dunno, maybe I'm just grasping for straws, but I really don't want this to happen. I'll be watching regarldess.
That's more or less how I feel about it. It's not so much the whole “gay” thing that bothers me, but it just seems so forced and gimmicky–like a rather desperate ploy for ratings, and this show has a bad enough reputation in its relationship with viewers for being like a whiny highschool bf/gf nagging desperately to find out what they can do to fix a sinking relationship. I love this show, I really do (it brought me back to watching television after two years of NOT watching tv!) but good GOD, this show seems so desperate and insecure behind the scenes. Almost every season there's an internet article or two asking viewers what they believe can be done to save the show, occasionally an official one to boot!
I can admit the show's not Season 1 anymore (and if I'm not mistaken, even then, the show had probably the same number of haters–I haven't forgotten being rather outnumbered as I tried to stand up for the S1 finale when a whole lot of people thought it was lame…), but I do see that there's plenty of great things left for it, WITH OR WITHOUT Traito–I mean–Brian Fuller.
The writers that are on staff just have to remember the care they put into their characters the first time around. Pay attention to continuity! And if the characters don't have anything nice to do, don't do anything at all! That sentiment is especially and directly aimed at:
–Hiro. NO more trips to India. Ever. If you have to punch out some random dude just to prove something to yourself…do it on your own turf.
–Sylar. We've had about enough of him. I don't want to see him past the next volume.
–Peter. I like him either way. Fans complained he was too powerful, but stupid. Now that he's got reduced powers, I think he's better in some ways. Smarter at least.
I'm not gonna run down every character. We know what we liked and didn't like.
If nothing else fails, I'm pitching the living Hell out of a reboot idea I think might put the show back on good footing. But that's for another time.
