Mohinder, Alejandro, and Monica Interviews

Entertainment Weekly currently has an interview with Shalim Ortiz who plays Alejandro Herrera, one-half of the Fleeing Twins on Heroes, at their site right now. (You can click here to read it.) No spoilers, more of an introduction to the actor — and considering what we (may) have already learned about Alejandro’s fate (SPOILERS), you might want to catch up with him now before it’s too late. Meanwhile, over at the AV Club, there is an interview with Sendhil Ramamurthy, the Indian actor who plays Mohinder Suresh on the show. Some interesting details about the actor, namely that he hails from Texas!
Here’s an excerpt from the Ramamurthy interview about Season 2:
The overall story is that all of the main characters are spread out and getting on with their lives—or trying to, anyway. If the first season was about ordinary people becoming extraordinary, this season is about everybody trying to be ordinary. Everyone wants to be as normal and under-the-radar as possible. My character is the most changed. They really flipped Suresh and did a 180—which I’m really happy about. He’s a man of action this season. I think it’s really going to shock the audience. It’s one of those things where they’ll probably be yelling at the TV when they see some of the stuff that Suresh does. He’s still the same person that he was at the core, but there’s a different thing driving him, and he’s working with and coming into contact with old and new characters who nobody ever thought that Suresh would be associating with. It’s kind of a bold thing for the writers to do, to flip the character like that. Hopefully it works. I think he’s a much smarter character than he was last season. There’s a lot less of Suresh being completely in the dark and every other character and the audience knowing what’s going on except him.

Another interview added, this one with Dana Davis, who plays Monica, the New Orleans-based hero who will make her first appearance in next week’s episode, “The Kindness of Strangers”, by FadPov.
An excerpt from the interview, about her character’s chances of surviving Season 2:
FADPOV: What do you think are Monica’s chances of making it through the season?
Dana Davis: I’d say the chances are pretty good. She’s just the kind of character that you want to keep around a while because you want to know her story. It’s a journey for Monica, so we’re going to want to know a lot about her. Like I said, the writers do a really good job of giving it to you piece by piece, little by little. So yeah, I think she’s going to be on the island for a while!
FADPOV: Have you had the chance to work with any of the other cast members yet? If so, what episode will we get to see you interact with them?
Dana Davis: I run up with Ali’s character. I also work with Sendhil, which we will see in episodes five and six. It’s hard because in a sense you feel very cut off from the rest of the cast. The writers are so amazing that each and every story sort of stands on its own, and you don’t end up working with the others as often as you’d like. I’m looking forward to when our stories begin to blend into one another. But for now Monica is in New Orleans making her mark.

– SPOILER ALERT –
You say, “considering what we’ve already learned about Alejandro’s fate (SPOILERS), you might want to catch up with him now before it’s too late.”
However, the spoiler page does not foretell the fate of Alejandro, but of Derek, the seemingly “high” American who is now driving Alejandro and Maya to the border.
Alejandro seems safe for now.

True, but it is assumed (perhaps wrongly) that the writer of that spoiler got the American/Alejandro mixed up, as the American HAS no powers, while Alejandro does. Also, it would not make sense for the writer to say “Derek & Maya”, as that would indicate they are a “couple”. More likely, he meant to say, “Alejandro and Maya”. But of course, it’s all guess work. (And I’ve edited the original article to reflect a more “maybe” tone.)
P.S. Sorry, accidentally edited your comment when I meant to blockquote it.

Very true about the whole “couple” issue.
I guess we’ll find out next week!
And who knows, maybe Derek does have powers of some sort. ;D

I am a big fan of Shalim Ortiz. I love his Spanish music and am obsessed with him on Engaged.TV. He is the reason why I started watching Heroes and am now addicted to the show.
Many viewers have voiced their hatred for the pointless characters, Alejandro and Maya.I disagree. I enjoy watching their storyline developed. As you said, this season is all about ordinary people trying to be normal. People need to give these characters time.
Go to EngagedTV.com and see Shalim as a hot Spanish lover! I will promise you, you will see Alejandro differently after doing so.

Ever wonder why Mohinder’s blood is the only cure for the heroes’ disease?

“Ever wonder why Mohinder’s blood is the only cure for the heroes’ disease?”
I think that maybe.. Mohinder is the source of the disease and he as his own cure for that. Hahahaha! Doesn’t make sense though.

Mohinder can’t be the source of the disease, as his sister had it before he was born. His father Chandra tried to have another child in hope of using the antibodies to save sister shuresh, but Mohinder was conceived a bit too late for that to ever happen. Chandra Suresh was a smart man.
