Miss Universe Riyo Mori Wants to be Hiro’s Girlfriend
In an interview with FoxNews, Japan’s Riyo Mori, aka 2007’s Miss Universe, talks about her whirlwind life after winning the crown and the possibility of joining the cast of Heroes — at least temporarily, as I doubt her duties as Miss Universe would allow her to take on a full regular role. According to Riyo, after winning the crown she was summoned to NBC, where she read for the part of “Yaeko”, who would be “a love interest for one of the main characters.” Of course we all know who she’s talking about: Princess Keriyama, last reported here, perhaps?
Mori said she is hoping to devote herself to her new role — which includes acting as a spokeswoman for AIDS issues — and is also looking for a possible role on the TV series “Heroes,” broadcast by NBC, which has rights to the Miss Universe pageant.
“As soon as I won Miss Universe I had this big chance,” she said. “I’ve never acted before. I went to the casting audition and read a script in English and Japanese, and they said it was really good. So I hope I can be in the show.”
More reasons to believe she’ll get the job: This isn’t a recurring role, and since Hiro is stuck in Feudal Japan, all Riyo would have to do is “act Japanese”, which, being Japanese, I’m assuming wouldn’t be that hard for her. Secondly, NBC owns both Heroes and the Miss Universe pageant, so what better way to cross-promote?
(And as an aside, James Kyson Lee, Ando himself, was one of the celebrity judges at the Miss Universe Pageant that crowned Riyo Mori!)
