Masi Oka’s Defenders, Claire’s Lesbian Tendencies?
One Heroes Season 4 rumor, and an update on what Masi Oka aka Hiro has been doing during his hiatus from the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Masi has sold a family action-adventure project called “The Defenders” to Dreamworks. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the guys behind “Star Trek” and “Transformers” will produce, while D.J. Caruso (”Disturbia”) is in negotiations to direct. Gary Whitta, who recently wrote the Denzel Washington post-apocalyptic actioner “Book of Eli” will script the film.
Here’s the plot of “The Defenders”:
The story centers on a group of mostly teenagers from around the world who are involved in a multiplayer video game, each unaware of who they really are behind the cover of their consoles and avatars. They are forced to come together for a real adventure, becoming inadvertent heroes in the process.
Since the movie will have heavy doses of MMORPG, Dreamworks has done the smart thing and will be producing a game version along with the movie. So get ready for Masi Oka’s “The Defenders” in 2010!
Meanwhile, the guys at IGN have taken The Hollywood Reporter’s little “maybe more” aside in regards to Rachel Melvins’ character (as reported here) to mean a little, er, shall we say, romance between Claire and her new college roomie.
I think most of us were leaning towards the “maybe more” being, perhaps, a familial tie between Claire and Melvins’ new character, Annie, but leave it to some people to think of more salacious possibilities. Mind you, not that we would mind. It would certainly add a little bit more spice to the show…
