Masi Oka Goes Japanese

As far as I know, Heroes hasn’t been shown on Japanese TV yet, but it seems like it’s coming soon. Japanese shows have already begun promoting Heroes, and here’s a Fuji TV’s Mezamashi TV profiling Heroes using Masi Oka’s Hiro character as a focus. I don’t speak Japanese, but JapanProbe was nice enough to transcribe what they were saying in the video (below). I like the mention that Masi might be more famous than Ken Watanabe (”The Last Samurai”) in America. Guys, I’d have to give that one a thumbs up.
Here’s the video:
And what they’re saying:
“They focus on actor Masi Oka, who plays Hiro Nakamura in the series. Oka, who immigrated to America when he was six and has since become an American citizen, is described a a very popular “Japanese” actor in America, possibly more popular than Ken Watanabe. They also mention that his character speaks Japanese on the show. [There is no mention of his Japanese sounding strange or not native.]

Jake on 30 July 2007:
It’s interesting, in the video on the screen they have Masi Oka’s name in Katakana, rather than Hiragana/Kanji.
Normally I’d expect to see it written:
丘まし
But they wrote it:
マシオカ
Maybe because he’s become an American citizen.
