A trio of casting updates for some “Heroes” actors who have landed jobs elsewhere.
As some of you may already know, Masi Oka is a regular on the CBS show “Hawaii Five-0″, but it looks like he’s expanding into movies again. Oka will produce a live-action version of the Japanese manga/anime “Bleach” for Warner Bros. with his “Get Smart” director Peter Segal. (via Variety)
“Bleach” is about Ichigo, “a teenager with the ability to see ghosts. When his family is attacked by a Hollow — a malevolent lost soul — Ichigo inadvertently absorbs the power to hunt Hollows. He then dedicates his life to protecting the innocent and helping tortured souls find peace.”
Ali Larter, who has been doing movies since leaving “Heroes”, will be returning to TV as the female lead of the FOX spy action/drama “The Asset”.
She’ll play “Anna King, a photojournalist well known for her photographs of “hot spots” around the world, but that is only a cover for her real job for the CIA as a globe-trotting ‘Human Intel Specialist.’” (via Deadline)
And finally, everyone’s favorite Season 4 villain Robert Knepper has joined the new CW show “Cult” from “Farscape” creator Rockne S. O’Bannon.
The show will star Jessica Lucas as Skye, “an inquisitive young female production assistant on a wildly popular television show called Cult who, after a rash of disappearances and a likely murder, joins a journalist blogger in investigating the rabid fans of the series who might be re-creating crimes seen on the program in real life.”
Knepper will play “Roger Reeves, who portrays charismatic cult leader Billy Grimm on the show-within-a-show. Billy is a charismatic madman who commands his own cult of followers willing to do anything Billy asks of them — including kidnapping and murder. Meanwhile, off-screen Roger is an affable, working actor.”
Yeah, but this being Robert Knepper, I’m gonna guest “Roger” won’t be really all that “affable” for very long…
