John August Blogs Heroes: Origins

News about Heroes: Origins is hard to come by, and this seems worthy, since I’m a fan of John August’s works. If you don’t know the name John August, then you’ve probably seen some of the movies he’s written. He’s the screenwriter on “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Big Fish”, and the upcoming Will Smith superhero movie, “John Hancock”. Recently, August and a few others were announced as writers on Origins (August will also direct). Over at his blog, August talks about how he got the gig. In a word, he asked. NO SPOILERS.

Blogs August:

How did I get the gig? I asked. Repeatedly. From the moment it was first announced, I knew I wanted to do one. I love writing one-hour dramas — act breaks are amazing tools — but I didn’t want to write a pilot this season. And it’s almost impossible for a writer to drop in for just one episode of an ongoing series. Not only is it like trying to grab a moving train, but it would ruin all the enjoyment of watching one of my favorite shows.

So, an anthology series is incredibly appealing. I’m grateful they said yes.

Maybe August will eventually talk more about his Origins story as the spin-off series nears broadcast, which should be at the end of Season 2. Stay tune to his blog to find out.
