Heroes Rumor of the Day: The Writers Strike is Almost Over!

If you’re a Heroes fan, you already know that the ongoing Hollywood Writer’s Strike (now in its fourth week) has practically crippled the Heroes Season 2, with the expected 24 episodes having been cut down to a meager 11, with tonight’s “Truth and Consequences” being the penultimate episode, and next week’s “Powerless” (episode 11) conceived as the Season 2 finale as a result. Now comes news that the strike may be at an end — the operative word there, obviously, is MAY.

The possible good news comes from Deadline Hollywood Daily, who says this:

…a very reliable source tells me that there appears to be a deal seemingly in place between both sides.

“It’s already done, basically,” the insider describes. That’s because of the weeks worth of groundwork by the Hollywood agents working the writers guild leadership on one side, and the studio and network moguls on the other. I was told not to expect an agreement this week. But my source thought it was possible that the strike could be settled before Christmas.

Keep in mind that all of this is speculative, but what the heck, this is the first piece of good news I’ve heard all month concerning the strike.

Obviously, even if the strike were to end by Christmas, it would still mean that no new episodes will be forthcoming for a while. It’s open to debate whether NBC would continue with the rest of Season 2 by producing new episodes after the Christmas break, or if they’ll just shut the Season 2 down after “Powerless” and start the show up again with Season 3 next year.

And as to the possible salvation of “Heroes: Origins”? Who knows…
