Heroes Season 4 Premiere Ratings Are Lowest Yet
I hate posting bad news about Heroes, but I have to post this, because it has everything to do with the show, and I’m not in the business of ignoring bad news just because it sucks. Well the news does suck, big time, but I think you need to know it anyway, if just to get yourself prepared for what may happen as a result.
Overnight ratings are in, and the Heroes’ Season 4 two-hour premiere came in … dead last. Only a meager 6 million viewers tuned into the show, down a staggering 46% from last year’s season premiere, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
How bad was it? The show was easily beaten by ABC’s utterly insipid Dancing with the Stars, which scored ratings that were triple that of Heroes. Yes, folks, three times as many people tuned in to watch a bunch of has-been celebrities learning to dance than watch an original scripted show like Heroes. That’s like being punched in the face and then kicked in the gonads right there.
So what does this mean for Heroes? To be honest with you, I don’t know, but I’ll tell you this — it’s not what NBC or the show’s creators were hoping for, that’s for sure. This is probably the worst cast scenario by far.
The only bright side is that Tim Kring and NBC have always said that the show translates well overseas, and considering the large sampling of foreigners on our site, I would have to agree with them. The show also does well with new media, and those kind of numbers are notoriously hard to quantify into the “big picture”.
You may be asking: Yeah, but are there any good news? There is one: we have already been promised a full season’s worth of Heroes, so if nothing else, even if everything goes completely off the rails, there’s always that.
