Heroes Returns After the Superbowl — and During!
Looks like NBC’s not going to sit idly by and just wait for the audience to return to Heroes. The network has decided to take an active role in promoting its shows during the big game, including the February 2nd return of Heroes Season 3. Heroes will be just one of many NBC shows that will be presenting themselves to the huge Superbowl audience that will be tuning in to watch the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers. So what exactly will we be seeing during the game?
This from TVweek:
To help relaunch “Heroes”—and to sell the show to people who haven’t watched—NBC will comically explore the idea of what would happen “if the Heroes were to use their extraordinary powers unfairly in a touch-football game,” Mr. Stotsky said. “Greg Grunberg makes an excellent lineman.”
Other shows to get showcases during the big game include Chuck, the late-night chat shows, plus new shows Kings and Southland.
Okay, so I love the idea of giving Heroes this great prime spot for a commercial, but wouldn’t the better angle be promoting the show’s, you know, more pleasing eye candy? Like Hayden Panettiere, Dania Ramirez, Ali Larter, etc? I’m just saying. Anyways, seeing Masi Oka in a football rig should be worth it all by itself.
Some promo images from the commercial.

Added: A behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Superbowl ad. Looks like Hayden and Ali do make appearances after all. No Dania, though…
Update: The actual ad itself! Hulu and Universal version below.
