Heroes Producer Allan Arkush Talks Season 3
Are you ready for Heroes Season 3? Not only will the show commence shooting May 1st, but according to Heroes producer Allan Arkush, who tells TV Guide that there will be a whopping 25 episodes for the year (to make up for the 11 in Season 2, perhaps?). When the show returns on September 15, 2008, it will be with back-to-back episodes that, says Arkush, will pick up “exactly where we left off” at the end of Season 2, with Nathan shot and apparently dying. As well, the show will introduce a new regular character that we haven’t seen before, before diving into its new villains.
He goes on to talk more about what to expect in Season 3, and I have to say, he really spills a lot! More:
“Villains” will take center stage in the upcoming episodes, as well as the nature of these villains being set loose. “It will be really clear who these villains are,” says Arkush. “These are not necessarily characters you’ve met already. Obviously, there’s going to be a lot of Sylar.” Will some familiar faces clumped into this category? “One of the things that strikes me as so interesting about the show (“Company Man”) was when H.R.G. says, ‘I’m very comfortable in the morally grey area,’” says Arkush. “Think about that. Just like when Nathan and Linderman were going to destroy New York for reasons they thought were correct. And who on the show seems to be able to make very hard decisions and has grown as a character? One of those people is Angela (Petrelli).”
The article has more, including Matt Parkman’s possible journey into the dark side, though nothing about Niki’s chances of surviving that exploding building; there will be more about Hiro’s loss of innocence, and Arkush explains the premiere episode’s title, “The Butterfly Effect”:
“As the show has shown, there are multiple realities. Every time you change something, every time you step on a butterfly, you could be changing the flow of the universe. That’s the chaos theory and that’s one of the things this season is about.”
