Heroes Preview: Season 3 Episode 5 (3.05) Angels and Monsters
By Sam | October 7, 2008 (1:31 am)
The world is once again in need of saving, but how are our heroes going to do that, when they seem to be constantly at each other’s throats? Maybe those answers, and more, will be found in the fifth episode of Season 3, titled, “Angels and Monsters”. From the previews, it sure looks like there’s plenty of angels and monsters roaming about the hallways of The Company; and perhaps those same angels are also monsters, or vice versa? Here is your complete preview of Heroes Season 3, Episode 5, “Angels and Monsters”, set to air next week.
Official Description:
SEVERAL HEROES STAND AT MAJOR CROSSROADS, FACING PERSONAL DECISIONS THAT COULD REDEFINE WHO’S “GOOD” OR “EVIL” — CLAIRE (HAYDEN PANETTIERE) ATTEMPTS TO TAKE DOWN HER FIRST NEW VILLIAN
Armed with H.R.G.’s (Jack Coleman) old files and a taser, Claire (Hayden Panettiere) attempts to take down her first target — Stephen Canfield (Andre Royo), a Level 5 escapee with the ability to create black holes — unaware that others are closing in. Meanwhile, in horror, Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) flees from all the death and destruction in the future, only to grimly discover how deeply the experience has changed him. Frustrated that Adam Monroe (guest star David Anders) didn’t get them closer to “the formula,” Hiro (Masi Oka) takes a stab at becoming friends with Daphne (guest star Brea Grant) and new associate Knox (guest star Jaime Hector), much to Ando’s (James Kyson Lee) dismay. Later, Suresh’s (Sendhil Ramamurthy) urge to correct research errors puts Maya (Dania Ramirez), among others, in a sticky situation. Linderman (guest star Malcolm McDowell) advises Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) to stick by Tracy (Ali Larter), seeing that they could accomplish great things together. In Africa, Matt (Greg Grunberg) sees his vision of “happily ever after” destroyed.
Alan Blumenfeld, Ashley Crow, Jessalyn Gilsig, Brea Grant, Jamie Hector, David H. Lawrence XVII and Andre Royo guest star.

So, Parkman’s dad is gonna be back? SWEET. I hated that they never did anything with that storyline last season…
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
That is Petrelli Senior, not Parkman.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
It certainly feels that way.
Idk about you guys, but he sounded a bit like Vin Diesel.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Actually, that’s Parkman’s father. (http://www.heroestheseries.com/uploads/2008/10/heroes-305-angels-monsters-0-115×115.jpg) Shoot, he doesn’t look as much good as Syler, Nathan or Peter.
But he’s Arthur Petrelli is coming back. I wonder what his power is — weather manipulation maybe?
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
This is getting better and better each week!!! Claire is always crying and going off the deep end!! Its starting to get annoying.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Better than being a sissy girl and running off with her boyfriend in season 2, but i get your point.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
omg looks like arthur petrelli is gonna show up!! the ability with the black holes sounds pretty cool aswell!!!
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
the season is all great… i just have one question that why in season 1 nathan could fly when hatian and HRG were so close to capture him?
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
AWESOME POINT HERE
yeah. how!?
haitian has two abilities
memory manipulation
and
negation
perhaps if one is active…
the other one is not.
he was closing in to force nate to close his eyes (the haitian pills)
but if negation is passive and ain’t orb effect.
it should have worked.
wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
The Haitian’s ability is a little complex. He can erase your ability to use your ability (a little confusing). All he does when he erases your memories is, erase your ability to remember those certain memories. At least that’s how I though of it, not too sure though. Like I said, the Haitian is a little complex, especially for somebody who doesn’t have a real name.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
you are a sad littel nerd
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
please someone tell me the powers of arthur petrelli
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
he can make ppl think like barbie dolls lol
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
thiss season is awesome i wanna see peter and sylar doing tagg team against bad guys and killing people
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
When’s Elle gonna be back!? I miss Kristen!
And yeah, that’s Robert Forester as Arthur Petrelli. I’m guessing that the Petrelli kids were all DNA Manipulated babies, like the Larter-Triplets.
And was anyone else as weirded out by Daphne and Parkman being married? Quite the age gap.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
One question… Can someone tell me who these people are? I don’t remember them:
Justin Evans … Simon Petrelli (4 episodes, 2006-2007)
Jackson Wurth … Monty Petrelli (4 episodes, 2006-2007)
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Justin Evans … Simon Petrelli (4 episodes, 2006-2007)
Jackson Wurth … Monty Petrelli (4 episodes, 2006-2007)
Aren’t those the 2 sons of Nathan??
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
OH MY GOD
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
OH! Hahaha, I completely forgot about those two. They’re NEVER on the show anymore lol. What ever happened to them anyways? They were barred up in that private school when Nathan was a hobo and then they never saw them again lol
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
speculation is that Arthur has the ability to completely mirror the genetic code makking all heroes normal people and all normal people heroes. simon and monty are nathan petrellis kids and OH MY GOD PETRELLIS WERE GIVEN THEIR POWERS TOO!!!
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Well that would make sense, since in the Heroes graphic novels, Peter’s dad did not have any power or show no hint of having any.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
I think this all harkens back to an advert Global was running basically that the heroes need to save the world but who will save the heroes from themselves?
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
I SO want Peter to go around killing people now that he has the hunger, actually Peter AND Sylar, going around kicking ass. Though then again last episode they couldn’t even defend themselves against super speed.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
@David
Thank you for such a nice comment.
Anyway, episode 4 is cool. I think Peter is going to be the monster in episode 5 and Sylar will become the angel.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
David, that at least would have made sense if you’d been saying ‘no no’ all over again, instead of ‘No on’…
But meh. I’m excited to see Papa Petrelli.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Hey look at angela’s face!!!! lol
i really want to see who she saw there. also i want Sylar to be on the Heroes side for a change!
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
WHERES ELLE!!!! and i want mohinder’s time line to end! oh yea my question is what happens if either sylar or peter gets mohinder’s powers? what will happen to them? anyway i hope mohinder dies hes the worst in the show i even hate the way he voice over, claire would have been a better voice over or angela or someone!
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
it is petrelli senior. claire is hot enough to go off the deep end when ever she wants
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
the one that said hello angela, I FEEL HE IS………….MATTS FATHER!!!!!, HE IS THE ONLY ONE BALD AND WITH A DEEP VOICE LIKE THAT, THINK ABOUT IT GUYS
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
no its peter and nathans father i know that and he is played by robert redford lol :S
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
AND THIS SEASON IS SOOOOOOOOOO DARK, LIKE SWEENY TODD, HOPE NO ONE DIES, AND I AM SO WORRIED WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO PETER ANS WILL HE GET RID OF THAT DAMN HUNGER
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
freak it out!
black holes!?
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
about peter monster
sylar angel
yeah
see it rhymes
peter monster

anyway sylar said
“yes… just like the angel”
and after some hours, he whacked alejandro
and tried to kill maya
LOL
HAHAHA. no
really.
he is the angel

If Peter can regenerate, why does future Peter have a scar?
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
I asked this same question in a different thread…. I’m guessing he got it when the Haitian was around
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
I though of that too, but he should still be able to use his power to regen when the Haitian isn’t around. My guess it was that maybe there a power out there that don’t let you heal from the attack or its just a loop hole in the story.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
If Peter acquires the powers of other people just by being in their vicinity how come he had to go in and demand Sylar’s power and wait while they argued about the hunger. Or better yet, shouldn’t he have acquired it all the way back in Season One?
Also, couldn’t Claire or Peter be killed just by being shot near The Haitian?
On a final note, I wish Peter would be killed off already, you can’t just walk around with everybody’s powers and be able to use them just as well as their original owners…that’s just unfair.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
My speculation is that Peter have to actually know what kind of power it is before he can use it. He never knew what Sylar power was, therefore it been asleep in him until the recent episodes. He have acquired lots of power but have yet to master most of them. From the way hes fighting, he have yet to master his power as good as the original owner.
Also Peter starts to notice he have acquired other people’s power only during flight and fright situations. Then he begins to use it more, such as telekinesis and teleporting, etc).
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Peter doesn’t have to know their power to absorb it. Think back to season 1: He doesn’t know that Claire could regenerate, or that Hiro could stop time, or that Tedd have radioacive powers. He simply absorbed these powers when he came into contact with them. Even during his first real figh with Syler he acquired his telekinetics.
My guess is that Since Sylar’s ability is knowing how things work, he is the only one who understands how to keep other from accessing his original ability, this is why he is he only one who had to give Peter his power instead of Peter being able to unknowingly take it back in season 1.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
@Ben
I think Petere can only absorb their powers when they are using it. Sylar had to to explain it to peter before peter was able to use it. So I’m thinking that Sylar was using the power while was explaining it to Peter. It’s just a hunch.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
M&M
I enjoy the tempo of show. However, the continuity problems are adding up. How is Peter able to teleport in Sector 5 to confront Sylar and Hiro is stuck? Y did Hiro have to dig up a guy he teleported into the coffin? Y didn’t Peter or Sylar stop time, use telekinesis, etc..to stop Sylar’s son for being held hostage?
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Good questions, at least yours have an answer.
When Hiro was in LV5 the haitian was around.
You will see why Hiro dig up that guy monday.
And finally, because of Daphne’s super speed.
Although you are right they could have done some good damage. But as a director you can’t think of everything at one whole episode. Just keep watching and more cool awsome fights will come into play.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
it annoyed me too that peter didnt stop time to save the kid. Also peters scar must be from being with the haitain like sum1 said b4.also in series1 in that nathan flying nxt2 haitian dude - didnt he want him to get away as he has his own belies of wat he think needs to happen.like the helping claire behind noah’s back Nathan was made to have powers but i reckon peter wasnt. or rather hope.also the Daphne and matt looks way to odd.
hopefully real time pete will start being a man rather than a little sissy , u can see how him and claire can start to be annoying, claire cant pull off the bad girl image, too cute, short and always looks like shes going to cry…like neve campbell from the scream movies lol.
oh its def papa petrelli. the guy maybe bald but he didnt look really fat or sound anything like parkman snr.
matts story seems a bit boring too. and hiro releasing adam is all in Angelas plan of evil. also agree with mohinder being annoying, he was cool for five seconds at the harbour. also, maya OMG, she’s far too hot to be human even in real life lol. unreal.
One must say i like the peter - sylar link and the fact that pete needed his power. also to those people who go on about y couldnt pete just take his power, well sylar has got bag loads of skills that we havent even seen. like when he came out of stopped time in series1 with hiro and the sword.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
that is one power peter dont have control of , he doesnt realy know how to time travel tat power needs more practise. he is always afraid of using that power bcause he always ends up some where else, that power is not es to use and master, dont u ppl get it, he always avoid using it.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
oh my gosh another viewer without proper knowledge of the show. u guys are just starting to watch heroes and so u dont have the right concept of the show. sylar only came out of the time freeze because of hiros lack of control with his powers at the time, and his fear of killing sylar, so time slowly unfrozed. it wasnt beacuse of some unique power of sylar. and again the use of the time traveling power is one of the hardest and most complexed power to use, and very hard to master, this is why peter can not use this power and is afraid to use it, he only used it one time and he trapped his irish girlfriend inanother time. so he avoids using it, he needs practise, and in time he will be able to use it at will like any other power, especially after acquiring sylars ability.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
You’re so right. I tried to master time traveling and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, lol. Please don’t talk about Heroes like a kid talks about Pokemon.
Peter can control time just fine. In what episode does he say anything about fearing the ability to control time? In what episode does he try to go back in time and not know how to or goes to a different time period?
The episode in Season 2 where he time jumps and leaves Katlin in the future is only because he didn’t even know he had powers. Memory loss remember. Every other time he has used time control, he has done perfectly fine.

I don’t agree with everyone who thinks this season is that great. It’s really starting to piss me off. They’re taking a lot of aspects from other shows (i.e. the 4400, Battlestar Galactica) and combining them to make Heroes it seems and now powers aren’t genetic, they were created through DNA manipulation, what the hell is that about? I think if that’s the case then it’s one of the dumbest plot twists they’ve ever come up with. Does anyone remember when this show was about evolution and the next step in the human. They’re just making **** up as they go along now and usually I’d be okay with that except it’s not making any sense with the past info we already have and it’s like they’re just throwing out everything they ever said and creating a whole new show which I am NOT cool with. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bashing Heroes, I LOVE this show but I just wish it would go back to what it was in season 1 and stop trying to be something it’s not. Season 3 is definitely better than 2 but season 3 needs to find its way or me and my friends won’t be watching much longer. Just my opinion though, I can see why people would disagree because it has been exciting and exhilarating but I’m just getting a little ticked off at the direction of this show. It just needs to find its way and fill in the holes they’ve created with these new plot twists and everything will be okay. But I’ll Definitely be waiting it out, I won’t give up on Heroes that easy.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Oh yeah and Mohinder, Hiro (except for scenes involving Daphne), and Matt need to go. Them and they’re storylines put me to sleep everytime I watch and theyre all annoying the hell out of me this season.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
If you go to herosite. net you can see the pix from this episode. It looks like Peter tries ti saw mama petrelli’s head off and Sylar comes to the rescue! I cant wait to seee this episode!
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Ditto for Jesse, My exact thoughts. And they are running this future/present stuff too far. Season 1 was the best to me. I’ll keep watching, hoping the writers got this all thought out in the long run.

anne i just saw peter trying to do sylar things to her mom ,but sylar its watching too that’s really weird they gonna split and share the brain or what ?sylar son noah is a honor for bennet for helping him but noah bennet is dead and is beacause of sylar and claire blaming him too for all her family dead too is super weird , i think the best thing to do for peter after what he just witness in the future is killng the haitian then he would be invincible and older bro sylar too kill the haitian save the world , papa petrelli its coming back and parkman’s dad too and they work or own the pinehearst company i think the big boss its linderman i think i saw older videos when linderman and daphne are talknig anybody remenber this so he be the one the making power to go formula and founder of pinehearst i hoping its true anybody knows something about it ?
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
i just watched the episode again on telle where ted goes nuclear in the bennet household and i have a couple questions relating to that episode, and i know this may be un relative now but if anyone could help that wuld be cool.
firstly i was wondering why they never introduced the character that the invisible man had been hiding(this was why noah shot him).
my speculation is that he has the same abilities as peter as when peter told the invisible dude that he can ‘do what you do’ he said oh no not another one.
and the other question is why didnt the haitain just stop ted going nuclear, if he had walked into the house ted wulda stopped straight away. they cleary show the haitain out the front walking away from the house. i dont think they ever followed up on that either did they?
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
The Haitian also failed to make Claude (the invisible man) go visible.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
The question is, How will they kill The Haitian if their ability is not working?
I think they will do the old fashion way. Either by using a gun, or a sword.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Guys….let me tell you a differend story about Peter’s Scar…. 1st of all…it doesn’t matter if the haitian is near or not….when he go away they are all able to use their power again…so the regenerative power is working….so…. think…. what regenaration means….
Now remember in the last episode that Gabriel (Sylar) said to Peter for his watch “it’s a scar…to remind me…” so I think that Peter makes his scar in his face to remind his of his mistakes…. what do you say????
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
Seems a little far fetched, but at the same time this is probably the best theory I’ve heard about Peter’s scar.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
There’s too many inconsistencies with the Haitian’s power. It’s stated that he can block the ability of others but as we have witnessed so far in this show, there’s been numerous times where you think it would’ve been wise for him to block a certain’s ability, e.g. nathan getting away, ted going nuclear. I’m just wondering if the writers are aware of this, and whether or not they did it intentionally. If that was the case, The haitian can take the cake for being the most mysterious mofo on the show, who’s agenda is unknown. All we know is that his allegiance to Mama Petrelli is bar none. Have you noticed that in all episodes of heroes showing scenes of the future, the Haitian is always portrayed as a bad ass, whereas in current time, he just seems to go with the flow.
(Report This Comment to the Mods)
you know what DimitriosV, I think you’re on to something there. You should head to the forums and let others know. It’s the best one I’ve heard so far, and makes perfect sense. If it does turn out to be true, it seemed a rather extreme way of making a point. He could bought a watch and broke it, and wore that around.

DimitriosV, I’ve posted a message in the forums in regards to your theory. I quoted it so all credits go to you.
