Heroes Preview: Season 3 Episode 21 (3.21) Into Asylum
Oh yes, things are certainly heating up on Heroes after last night’s episode. Or should we say, freezing up? The identity of the mysterious Rebel has been revealed (and yes, 90% of all Heroes fans guessed it way ahead of time), Daphne is rescued (sort of), and Angela Petrelli finds herself a fugitive. Here is your full preview of next week’s episode, 3.21, “Into Asylum”, where we find Angela and Peter plotting, Danko gets a (not all that surprising) “partner”, while Claire and real dad Nathan head down south to Mexico.
Official Description:
AS THE GAME OF CAT AND MOUSE ESCALATES, DANKO FINDS HIMSELF A SURPRISING NEW ALLY
Now that Nathan’s (Adrian Pasdar) ability has been revealed and he has lost control of his operation, he and Claire (Hayden Panettiere) go into hiding in Mexico. With Emile Danko (guest star Zeljko Ivanek) now in control of the government operation, his plan to destroy everyone with abilities is set into motion as he teams up with an unlikely partner. Meanwhile, Angela (Cristine Rose) and Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) seek refuge in a church and begin to mend their broken relationship.
Kevin Alejandro also guest stars.

Mmm, Sylartastic.
SECOND
The tease looks cool.I just can’t wait until next monday
Can’t heard the audio…what are they saying?
Is that Hayden’s real hair that’s showing? Have they finally retired the wigs? It looks different.
I hope we get a BIG showdown between Peter and Sylar at the end of this series that ends with one of them getting taken down permanently.
you don’t understand..sylar can not die or taken down permanently. he is like claire…
Well if sylar had his head chopped off then he can die.
Even still, the only way to kill someone with rapid regeneration is to take their power, adam munroe was blown up in a building, and survived, sylar was stabbed in the head and had primatech fall on him..
Matt Jr. If he turns off Sylar’s or Claire’s power, they can die for good.
I thought the same thing the moment i saw Matt Jr. gave Hiro his power. Coz I really wish Sylar to be dead soon. IMO Sylar’s story was only relevant in S1. After that he’s just been a secondary villian to Adam, Arthur etc. with some loose story attached to him. I know he’s loved by many tht’s why they keep him….
Yes, true, Sylar and Claire can regenerate, but do you not remember when Claire’s biological mother was “training her”. If air can’t get too their lungs, via too much smoke or drowning, than they can die.
Well no actually they wont die, at least not permanently, when the fire stops they will come back. My theory is for Normal People to find a way to Chopped him appart into several pieces, then spread the pieces around the world all separated. For Super Humans well tahts easy, there are several ways, one the hatian but it wont stop him for long or Parkman’s baby but we still dont know what are the limits of his power other than he’s a baby and he doesn’t knows how to use them.
Meredith never said if the air was too thin, Claire would die. She referred to the thin air and “waterboarding” b/c it would FEEL like she were drowning, or suffocating. She was trying to make Claire admit that just b/c she can’t die doesn’t mean she can’t feel trapped.
i think that matt jr. has nothing to do with hiro’s power…emotions can have effect on powers, so the fear may haved kicked in
Whoa, hey! That’s some good deductive reasoning..
And on the Heroes message board no less.
I like the way you think.
think! he can survive a nuclear explosion, so clair did and peter in the future episode. sylar has the same ability…their bodies were atomized and you talk about cutting of heads ? *lol
sylar can be paralized, freezed for a long time, also with drugs maybe..
ok, we don’t have to forget the haitian…
all you have to do is chop him into 10 different pieces and bury each part on different continents and Syler would be all gone.
It is spelled S-y-l-a-r, and not Syler.
311 is spelled as b-o-r-i-n-g.
Give it a rest on do the REAL commenting on the SHOW.
Noor is spelled Q.Q.
Someone please dump Claire bear out of heroes. I can’t help but feel she is a waste of screen time! The writes make too many excuses for her..as if she cant be killed! Behead her or something!
It had to be micah, he grew up, and i dont think tracy is dead, if u payattention she either cried or moved her eyes after she was broken. She may have reemerged from the ice… What do u think? It was messed up for her to sell out rebel regardless of who it was. I didnt see daphne dieing, i was really suprised! But i knew it was in her head when matt started flying. I was like wtf, precog, mind control, & flying lol. At first i thought baby matt had micahs power, but its better in a way, but if hecan turn off abilities maybe they’ll try to use him as a “cure” … Are hiro an ando supposed to be too dumb to let ando touch the baby and the baby touch hiro, to atleast try to get his full powers back
or atleast let ando supercharge hiro so they can teleport and travel easier… A little teamwork.
I was thinking the same thing about Hiro and Ando. Show would be better if Peter got all his powers back. Maybe he touches the baby too….
If Peter’s full of powers on not doing anything smart….still the show leaves u unsatisfied. Now tht Peter’s ability is limited and he’s more kickass…the show’s still not better. I blame fans like u that had a bad influence on the show.
It’s been mentioned on the show more than once that if someone with regenerative powers gets shot in the back of the head, “the sweet spot” then he/she would die. Angela mentions it once and and so does a soldier who holds up a gun to the back of Sylar’s head in the restaurant where Sylar and the kid with extreme heat that comes out of his hands stop for lunch.
Well I have a theory, what if we’re looking at the wrong perspective. I think you need to think who are the only people who can take powers away. Yes, Peter is one of them but what if he can only take one power away at a time. Remember in the first episodes when he met Sylar in claire school he horse played with him and both fell of the roof of the school. Well I think thats when he got his multiple ability taking. Because remember that Sylar can take powers away without killing someone just he likes to do it that way which is even cooler. Then PAPA petrelli took off his powers and well, here you go back from scratch after he got the shot from the Syrum Vurus Injection Shot thingy. Thats why I believe peter can only take one power away at a time until he meets up with Sylar again which he hasn’t done since Fugitives started. Makes sence?
Dude, Peter can’t take away powers. He absorbs (“borrows”) them. One at a time. He borrows a second ability- he loses the first. The host still keeps his/her original ability. It was the writer’s way of softening him up. With his original power, every ability he encountered he could mimic- to no end. Invulnerability destroys drama. Sylar, however, is the antagonist so having him seem invulnerable creates drama- “How can they ever beat him???” Your idea of Peter borrowing Sylar’s ability is interesting though- especially since we know from Season 2 that Sylar can take abilities without killing…
…Aaand the Hatian can actually take powers away
Anyone hear about LAWR the group of four helping rebel the A stands for Anna Korelenko she shuts down the upper functons of the brain, i dont know about the LWR, its in “the agent” series with rachel mills. No M so maybe Molly isnt involved yet, she should be in india with suresh’s parents, matt kind of forgot about her after daphne came in the picture. I mean im sure they’ll come for her sooner or later.
interesting theory… how about W? Molly Walker? her last name does start with a W
“the game has changed” Angela who can predict the future, seemed a little worried about getting caught. So, we know that that “the game being changed” has everything to do with Peter considering Nathan looks into the sky straight after she told him “secret”.
So, the only thing to look foward to is what she knows about Peter and his future. Whereas, for Sylar, his motives are still undetermined. He flips flops more than a politician.
Matt parkman’s kid is the “cure” and the formula will go ahead with him being the guinea pig. The future has not changed on the larger scale.
am i right in assuming this?
I still wanna know what Danko’s beef with specials is.
My thoughts are that the incident Angela referred to in their meeting, was caused by a special. The incident where the town Danko lived in or something was killed by a special, possibly even the company.
I think Danko is a healer. You’re right about the meeting with Angela. She mentioned something about a mission where “all those people died. And you survived” I think he’s a healer and is ashamed of his gift. That’s why he wants to rid the world of specials.
AMAZING EPISODE. Brian Fuller really did well in writing that episode. Let’s hope they can follow up with another good episode.
With Daphne dead now I wonder if anything from the episodes where the future was shown will even happen. This are not lining up anymore. You have Daphne dead and Knox dead so the whole scene with Sylar Peter and Sylar’s son Noah cant happen. And now the only viable thing that can happen is Ando killing Hiro but even that can be questioned. Now I am interested in Matt’s painting of DC blowing up. Will that still happen?
The future that they showed earlier in the season was only a POSSIBLE future. Just because they showed it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to happen. Prime examples: NYC blowing up in season one and the Shanti virus spreading in season 2.
so, i have to say that these episodes are beginning to come together. Now, i am staying interested in the episodes. i am a die hard hero fan and i was not complaining at first, saying that the beginning of this volume was a little rough. some how they found a way to finally piece together the story lines and it’s all beginning to make sense. i can’t wait till peters powers come back to full! Baby Matt Parkman is incredible, i mean he even gave hiro his powers back, which was something that needed to happen. it just wasnt fair that ando had his powers and hiro, left to fend with nothing. I can only imagine whats going to happen next week!
NO ONE CANNOT DIE, THERE IS NO COMING BACK IF THE HEAD IS ‘BEHEADED’ dont you remember the incident with Peter and adam the previous season?
im not getting it, are you saying daphne died? where is that?
something is also worrying me, at the end of episode 19 we saw Sylar in Danko’s house and this episode he did not show, can this explain the fact that Doyle was captured by sylar??
Unfortunately, Kim, Daphne died. I don’t think that anyone really saw that coming unless they found some spoilers somewhere. Also, if you caught the teaser for next week after last night’s episode it shows Danko and Sylar in a car and Danko says to Sylar, “That would make you the only one left.” That confirmed the implication that everyone thought that Sylar and Danko would team up. So what’s basically going to happend is Danko and Sylar will team up to take out people w/ special abilities making it a win win situation. Danko gets rid of people w/ special abilities and Sylar get all the abilities he wants. Here’s something to think about though…will Danko really let someone as powerful as Sylar roam free? Especially if he were to gain a lot more ablilities.
kill the cheerleader. I am actually curious why the cheerleader has lasted this long. Are the evil guys so stupid they haven’t figured out how to kill her? I compare Clair to Kim Bauer in 24, or Sarah Tancredi in Prison Break…nothin more than window-dressing and a reason to yawn when they come on screen. I love Sci-Fi/Action, and to imagine Heroes being turned into a family drama ala ‘All my Children’ gives me the tummy rolls….which is exactly whathappens whenever there is a scene with ‘claire hubbly bubbly bear’ euh!
Daphne flatlined after her and matt went to the moon, unless she just speeded up her heart rate to make it stop so matt would kind of leave her alone. Probably not but i seen flash do it before on justice league.
This episode was soooo good! Where did you all hear about LAWR? I didn’t think Micah could be doing it all on his own…and what was up with Tracy winking? Can she get put back together? And why bring Daphne back just to kill her off? And how did she stay alive so long just to die in a real hospital? hmmmm… but I loved loved loved this episode and I can’t wait for next week!
She will reform, like i said downwards, once she has melted, she in toghter and will re-form, cause they said they have plans for Tracy in season 4
BEST EPISODE EVER!!! i loved this episode it feels like season 1 heroes. …………..
So if Sylar(thumbs up!) and Claire bear (yawn) can be killed if their heads are chopped off, can’t they puleeeeeez just have some “Final Destination” type accident happen and get rid of the cheerleader? Really, everytime I watch heroes I just have to skip the bits she is in because they are just too sappy and don’t belong in a cool sci-fi like Heroes. Apart from all that i just thing she is a gap filler…she’s not even a hero. That whole spin about how she is/was ‘protecting’ Alex was a load load bull…I mean, what’s she gonna do, heal the bad guys to death? Puleeeeeez!
I know a lot of guys want to check her out as often as possible, but if Heroes becomes an ogglefest, they might as well fire ALL their writers ecause soonerthan later, the fanbase will disappear.
The guys over at Prispon Break made the same mistake with the good doctor Sarah…she was brought back, by ‘popluar demand’, but as the series developed we realised she just really didn’t fit in anymore, only popping into scenes to sit and comfort-chat with the gay dude…Wentworth Miller or to whine and sob about the beating she got.
If the Heroes writers are serious about SCI-FI /ACTION like they were in season 1…Kill the cheerleader and Save the Series! Decapitate her and crush the head or something along those lines…should work. Sylar is cool! keep him!
Disagree. Im not sure how you can say claire is not a hero. She almost killed sylar (the only other one to almost kill sylar was hiro back in s1).
She was willing to kill her uncle to save NYC (could you kill your fav uncle).
She was the main cure to a sickness that almost whipped out the entire earth (thanks to the villian of w/the same power).
She boarded a moving plane and saved all the heroes on board from certain death (ive never tried it, but boarding a moving plane sounds tough).
She saved her mommies from the puppetman (also prolly tough to do).
Among more! Im not saying she is the ultimate hero by any means, but she is more to this show than eye candy.
thank you! My gosh, it’s like people don’t ave a heart. It seems to me that the show would become dull and flat without claire.
i see both sides of the story here, i think what the main problem is, is that her stories are pointless. In season 1 she was exciting because she had such power yet she was so vulnerable and now she just gets stories where she’s confused/upset. If this confrontation with sylar leads to her becoming the badass claire we’ve seen before in the future, people will definitely start liking her again! i have no problem with any of the characters i think the writers of heroes know exactly what they’re doing and where they’re going with the characters/stories, people just need to have a little bit of faith in them.
I think she really adds to the show. She is also the person that keeps mr Bennett interesting. Without his motive of protecting her, he isn’t that interesting and how will the show put you on the wrong leg? This next to that her family is the only “normal” family. Her character keeps the show more grounded. Also looking at her relation to the Petrellis, it sometimes seems she’s the only sane one, keeping the balance. The airy etherical is very nice, but one needs some grounding too.
Overall her storyline is a bit dragging I agree, she’s probably a character which is difficult to write, with the plot (and complaining people). Her role should develop more on the spiritual side, become more self-controlled, this will make her less winy! She should learn from Hiro.
The part with Hiro and Ando was nice and comical again. The overall colors of this episode were really soothing and it looks like the depression period is kind of over. Very nice episode, congratulations. I bet the ratings will go up!
I wanted to say im happy for the refocusing of the cast. I do think Tracy is gone but can Barbara be far behind? And by the way Tracy shed a tear she didn’t wink at the camera.I think the cst is being trimmed for war.War on tv is fun.Not sure how I feel about the Sylar Danko team up. Ando is getting a grip on his powers maybe this will lead to good things. Any word on Haitian and is Meridith dead(can she die in a fire?)?Is Arthur gone his body is not on the floor in the later scenes of the end of chap3?
If you actually watch it back again you’ll see there is both first the wink then a drip of water.
she didn’t die because of the gunshots she died because the infection..Danko won’t have a chance against Sylar and he’ll know that soon enough
Who are you talking about/to? Maybe you should try the reply button…
begging your pardon, but don’t we all know how TV series work? No one actually dies in a series. Because at some point when the character is needed, some twisted explanation will be given for why they are ‘back from the not-so-dead’. All these characters can quite easily be yanked back into the story line via some time travel yarn or parallel dimension twist or something. So don’t stress about who winked, who didn’t who really died and what-not. Think of it as “they are temporarily on leave from the series” they’ll be back.
True, but not always such a solid guarantee. I would be awfully surprised if the writers even care anymore about our concerns for Caitlyn back in Season 2. In fact, I don’t think we’ll be seeing ANY of the characters thrown in from Season 2, up to and including fan-fav Adam Monroe.
Though Isaac’s power lives on in the show, I doubt we’ll be seeing him comeback (although, I think it would be a really cool nod to season 1 if they had a flashback or something like that referring to him).
Sadly, as much as I love her, Simone is gone as well.
There comes a point where some plot threads and characters left behind are generally forgotten, or it’s simply too late to bring them back. Or even, fans just simply don’t want them back. What would be the point of brining Alejandro back for instance?
You could almost say there’s a “hierarchy of deadness” that may or may not apply to any show where people die.
Examples:
Alejandro=Deader than dead—pretty certain he’s NEVER coming back.
Usutu=Dead–He can (and has come back in unconventional ways; Linderman also applies)
Micah=Put on A Bus—can (and most recently has) return with greatest plausibility as the character has been “relocated” for most of the time.
And then there are one-shot characters like Alex and Vortex man.
My Picks for future members of the Hierarchy of Deadness:
Deader than Dead===Danko. Should he die at the end of the Season, let him rest. Too many dead characters return as hallucinations. Danko doesn’t need to be one of them.
Dead–Nathan.Should things play out where Sylar kills him and poses as President Petrelli (as seen in FYG Future), I think this would be a worthy exception to my cry of “no more hallucinations” as stated above.
Put on a Bus===Claire. Don’t kill her. Not even Sylar has much of a point in killing her anymore. I still think we need to find out what was so special about her to begin with. I think the writers are currently tapped out with her, but I still think there’s more somewhere…
I would also recommend Hiro. His power is (understandably) unreliable. Either its down and out or it’s a game-breaker. As Matt put it, he’s a walking reset button. Besides, doesn’t he have a company to run? Why isn’t anyone at Yamagato looking for him??
As for one-shot characters (or transfers from GNs, istories, etc), give them more purpose in the story or don’t bother transferring them over! I love how they’ve made Rachel Mills a somewhat relevant character in the series proper.
I hate how Sylar killed Bridgette (the girl Angela gave to Sylar to take her power) for object memory which he NEVER used. The flashback at the diner was officially declared a normal flashback. What a waste!
While we’re on Sylar, TK is cool, but he’s overdoing it. If one didn’t know any better, they’d think that and lightning are the only active powers he’s got.
Okay, rant out.
Alejandro his power was opposite of his sister maybe he had a come to life power and could use it on his self
Seeing how unpopular Maya was (granted, Dania Ramirez is still smokin’ hot–why can’t SHE be the one to have triplet characters? Maybe that way she can come back as a more relevant character; same hotness, new lease on life! Ah well. I guess Ali Larter is the only one who gets those privileges.)
Ahem–before I went on that parenthetical tangent, I was trying to say that Maya wasn’t popular, so I doubt the writers will go out of their way to bring back anyone to do with that character’s plot thread, up to and including alejandro.
I’m not on the writing staff, so I can’t call it solid, but I wold be overwhelmingly surprised–how about, say, I would LITERALLY eat my hat if Alejandro made a return to the show in any shape or form.
Please don’t become one of the writers. They’re really good at it. I don’t like the way you describe the future of the show. It’s sounds it ‘ll be depressing and lacking of depths. Sorry don’t mean to attack you, but jist have to let you know. EE!
No offense taken, but what do you mean by that? Explain yourself, EE.
