Heroes Preview: Season 2 Episode 8 (2.08) Four Months Ago
By Sam | November 6, 2007 (1:05 am) | More: Heroes Season 1 Spoilers/News, Heroes Season 2 Spoilers/News
Peter has discovered what is destined to happen if he doesn’t stop the Shanti Virus from being unleashed, but how did it get to be that way? Meanwhile, Takezo Kensei’s appearance in the present, under the name of Adam Monroe, brings up more questions than answers. And what exactly happened to D.L. at the end of the Season 1 finale? All the answers are promised in next week’s episode, Season 2, Episode 8, titled “Four Months Ago”. As the title suggest, we will be journeying backwards in time, to the end of “How to Stop an Exploding Man”, and see how our heroes got to where they were found at the beginning of Season 2.
The plot description:
When the clock turns back four months for all of the Heroes, Nathan pays a terrible cost for his heroic actions. While Peter survives his detonation over New York City, the Company “bags” him as a threat to the world, eventually leading to violent confrontation with Elle (Kristen Bell) and the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis). D.L. (Leonard Roberts) makes the ultimate sacrifice for Niki (Ali Larter) and Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey). Maya (Dania Ramirez) horrifically manifests her dark powers for the first time, driving her and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) to America for help. A mysterious, yet familiar face is introduced.
David Anders, Jack Coleman, Dana Davis, Greg Grunberg, James Kyson Lee, Zachary Quinto, Sendhil Ramamurthy also star. Carlon Jeffery, Nichelle Nichols and Stephen Tobolowsky guest star.

I think you meant “…and see how our heroes got to where they were found at the beginning of Season 2″.
I’m so tempted!
Doctor Who on 6 November 2007:
That looks FREAKING awesome!
Neil on 6 November 2007:
I am dying here I can’t wait its going to kill me if I don’t see this episode!!!
Nik on 6 November 2007:
Yes! An episode that looks like it has some teeth to it! I was getting tired of all the set-up. My nagging question is “Why didn’t Peter just fly away himself before blowing up?”.
Kris on 6 November 2007:
Nik, I think he was in a state of extreme distress, trying to control the explosion and not kill all thos epeople, so he couldnt concentrate enough to fly himself away… remember by this he had just barely gotten control of his powers, it would have been easy enough for him to lack the concentration to manifest one power while struggling to control another.
Glad to see Hiro back and get confirmatrion Kensei shows up in the future… but we know him as Adam, is he also Kane?
Maya will become the thing that spreads the Snati virus… she will somehow release an potent version of it and it will become a plague… a new Typhoid Mary. I also seem to think she will embrace that power somehow…
Justin on 6 November 2007:
This episode looks so awesome…can’t wait.
I think its really cool that they introduced Elle this season, about time they had a female hero with insanely cool offensive powers. I have to say I used to be a big fan of Claire, but she doesn’t seem to do much anymore.
Yvonne on 6 November 2007:
Finally we will get some answers!!! and i hope they make sense.. i was beginning to say “heroes is turning into lost!!”
B A T M A N on 6 November 2007:
I LOVE HEROES!! ^___^
Nik on 6 November 2007:
Kris,
I get that as an explanation but it’s a guess. It’s not like the bomb thing caught Peter by surprise. He knew that it was coming and wasn’t ready. Now I’m looking forward to finding out what the whole “scarface” thing is with Nathan. It reminds me of “The Dark Knight Returns” when Twoface has his scarred half repaired but still sees himself as deformed. Also, it’s too bad that Peter and Linderman never hung out. It would be a great power to have absorbed.
latrel on 6 November 2007:
hey nik your questions about why peter just didnt fly i can give you. its been written before by tim kring that with peters power he cant fully control everything the only power he can control at ease is invisiblity since claude taught him how to properly use it. now since that nuke started happening he tried concentrating on how to stop it and control it therefore he couldnt use any other of his powers not future peter who can use any power at ease would have remember peter is still learning… so thats your answer…
eron on 7 November 2007:
adam was the very first manifestation.. hence the name
tomaito on 7 November 2007:
eron- good one. i think it all started with Adam, seeing as how kensei is really hiro, and not adam. but do you think yakeo ends up with adam then, and from their kids become the future heroes? can’t wait for next week
Nik on 7 November 2007:
Okay, but that he wasn’t ready for it still makes me shake my head. You’d think that flight would be something that he’d practice. He practiced BEFORE he could fly but not afterwards?
Sometimes I wonder if he’s only able to manifest one power at a time. I think there was a character in the Marvel Universe who could mimic powers but was limited to one at a time. THat would make some sense.
Another question… Claude Raines was the actor who played the invisible man in the 1933 movie. When the invisible man in the show said that he was Claude Raines I took it as a joke. Are we just going with that as his name because it is the only one we have for him or is that actually his name? A little nod to the past.
GEORGE K on 7 November 2007:
WHO IS ADAM MONROE
GEORGE K on 7 November 2007:
WHO RUN THE COMPANY
latrel on 7 November 2007:
hey nik
peter can do 2 abilities at a time remember when he was invisible at isaacs loft and isaac was pointing the gun at him well he was moving things at him at the same time so that clarifies your question there.. also ted himself couldnt really control his own power as well this nuke thing is a BIG deal, and why does sylar know how to control it right away, well remember his own ability is to ‘FIX and figure’ things out, he can sense things that need fixing or broken and with new abilities is own ability finds a way to perfect it…
Kold on 8 November 2007:
Man heroes is getting exciting now…..and the boring Claire-West story is also heating up.
Adam Monroe(Kensei)-Peter story will be interesting…I have to watch this.
Heroes Gal on 8 November 2007:
WEll all I know is that DL dies becuase Nikki has another alter ego “a naughty school girl” I mean Nikki powers are cool , but come on ..another alter ego .. And I think kensi or “adam” are related to nathan and peter some how. becuase claire has the same power and the only other replica we have seen is Matt and his dad ..and claires real dad is Nathan …So many many questions..(and remember we cant see nathan and peters dad in the picture , its turned away …) just think
DoNi on 8 November 2007:
Just a little guess, but seeing that when hiro holds someone he can move with them in time, and when D.L. held someone he can walk with them trough wals, so maybe it could be that when claire holds someone she can heal them because as we have seen they (the heroes) always seem to develop their powers, and maybe adam healed nathens face. lol just a few little thoughts
DoNi on 8 November 2007:
Also im guessing Adam is the one that brought everyone together because and he is the one that killed hiros father because as we know he did not die and the last time he saw hiro he said that “as long as he will live everythings he loves he will let it go to waste, he will make him suffer” so seen as he never dies im guessin he is the one that broke out that the company where keeping locked to get revenge on hiro.
Argyrakis on 8 November 2007:
Thats rediculous.. If adam ages up until the age of 30 or whatever and clair ages to the age of 17, why would he suddenly stop aging?
Its all patently obvious what will happen in the end..
Its just the build up to the finale, how will they stop the virus…
The virus represents the bomb within the first series and it will be the ‘greater good’ or ‘hope’ that prevails again. i just hope the writers strike doesnt delay the finishing of the series.
peace,
chris
Daniela on 8 November 2007:
Hey. I read some of your comments and related to that comment by Heroes Gal who thought that might be a relation between Adam and Claire…etc.because of their same power, surely may be, but not necessarily. Think about Niki and Mika, they are mother and son, still they have different abilities, or Nathan and Claire (father and daughter) that have different abilities.Anyway, if you are right in this, think also about the ability of West… He flies just like Nathan, could there be any relation?
The Adam issue is very confusing. How has he got in the future?I don’t think he has that ability.Or maybe he was “hidden” in the mask Hiro brought with him in the future, and then he regenerated himself? Naaaaaa, was just a stupid idea, don’t think it’s that, is it?
Another thing I was thinking about is that all the “Save the Chearlider-Save the World” thing has to do with this second Season and not with the first, because in the first one Claire doesn’t do anything so that the salvation of the world could be depended on her, while here in this second season it becomes more clear. If Claire really has the antidote in her blood, then she can save the world from the virus. It makes sense now, so everything from the episodes of the first season, to the episodes of the second season are related and going in a unique direction. The bomb thing was just a warming-up, so we could think that THAT was the BIG BOOM, but I think not.I think it was just a casualty derived from the fact that Peter (as someone mentioned above) couldn’t control very well his powers.
Sorry about the long comment, but I think it’s worth reading
Would love to hear your comments too about that.
Peace to you,
Daniela
latrel on 8 November 2007:
to daniella,
your wrong about claire and the ‘ save the cheerleader and save the world’ stuff. its been explained already what would’ve happened if sylar got the hold of claires power cos sylar was after claire in season 1.. u need to watch them episodes again.
Daniela on 9 November 2007:
Yeah, yeah, I’m pretty clear about that,I have seen the episodes very carefully.I might be wrong, but anyway it makes more sense to me that she’s saving the world herself with her blood, than just not being caught by Saylar. Just a thought.:)
April on 9 November 2007:
i think that the Kensei/Adam thing is really really confusing. is Adam sort of immortal? i also think that West will come back, i’ve also seen pictures where West and Mr. Bennet are working together which raises some question.
frayne on 9 November 2007:
this is just so cool, cant wait for this episode, just like tim kring said, episode 7-11 could be the best episode they ever made.
which is true since that till episode 6, nothings so important come up.
about the cure for shanti virus, i dunt think its claire blood, it must be her abilities to regenerate any cell which has been contaminated,
Argyrakis was rite, if cellular regeneration lead to immortality (which is proven by Adam Monroe existence).. then why they can grow until that certain age.
and by introducing elle, as a femme fatale in season 2 , it just so great, at least we know how come Peter able to fire that electric ball in the beginning of season 2.
And about Maya, what the hell with her power, just so massively dangerous, is it some kind of virus power or wut, and how come they able to even undo it with alejandro’s power…
and what about Caitlin? Peter left her in the future….
btw, sorry for the absolutely massive long comment, just cant wait to share it with people who have same thought about it…
Mike on 9 November 2007:
Perhaps they stop aging at the moment they control their powers and become immortal.
Either that or Adam ported to the future via Peter(most likely) or Hiro
Nik on 9 November 2007:
In the Highlander mythos the imortals stopped aging at the time of their first “death”. It could be the same here. …although Claire was supposed to have been burnt in the housefire as a baby so that would put a big hole in my theory.
clairewannabe on 9 November 2007:
i think that adam is immortal because if you think about it we generally stop growing in our 20’s to 30’s and just start to deteriorate and get older instead of developing so to speak, but with his regeneration he wouldnt get old…ever! i think claire will be immortal too, Also the whole relations thing is gettin confusin could west also be nathans son ew! and perhaps claire a long lost grandaughter of adam….he so cool btw lol im loving this series but not really appreciating the intensity or lack of pace in the episodes im stickin with it cos i loved series one so much and i think 2 is about to get interesting…i think maya and alejandro are boooooring that story line needs to hurry up a bit! x
Argyrakis on 9 November 2007:
Aside from this very long argument, i hope peter eventually remembers everything..
and i hope sylar gets his powers back, just to thicken the plot a bit
Nik on 9 November 2007:
Does anyone get the feeling that they took the powers away from the two toughest guys from the first season just so that they could delay the eventual clash? If they had their powers they were going to have to fight.
louis on 10 November 2007:
Is anyone wandering what part micah’s aunty (i forget her name) will play in this series.
ANd noone seems to be interested in mrs petrelli i really wanna know what she can do mainly.
with the whole virus thing i think the answer might be alejandro- see how he disable’s his sister’s power- just like the haitian
and what have they done with dr who invisible guy or ‘claude’ i wanna see him play a bigger part maybe he’s been in places a lot of the time doing stuff i dont have a clue but is somehow involved?
just some thoughts you might find interesting
appreciate any answers if you can
mastone on 10 November 2007:
- I think Claude attacked mrs. Petrelli
- Peter helped Adam/kensei escape from the company
- Remember when claire got “killed” by that high school boy in the first season and how she remained dead until the examiner took out the root that was in her head?
My guess is that something similar happened to kensei/adam(i don’t rule out the immortality thing however)
- I’m curious who the father of Sylar is, my bet is that he’s the boss of the company.(bob, perhaps?)
-I believe adam is peter and nathans father.
What do you think?
Mathew on 11 November 2007:
hey as to immortality and adam’s/claires power, I think they can develop but not age. So they can grow up but they will stay young forever and never die (unless they’re dropped in lava or something).
Diego on 11 November 2007:
OMDIZZLLEEE this episode is goin 2 b AMAZIN bring on tuesday!!!!!!
Slim on 11 November 2007:
in response to the save the cheerleader save the world thing… the reason peter needed to save claire was so that nathan could be persuaded to stop peter blowing up. in the last episode when nathan lands next to him he says somat like ‘you did it peter, you saved the cheerleader so that we could save the world.’ claire showed nathan that he was being a coward by going along with his mum.
i think with the regeneration thing, it would only start to stop you aging when you have reached a peak age… ie adulthood.
i can’t wait for peter to start kicking arse. he could be so sick.
LEX on 11 November 2007:
theres toooooo much going on! hard to get my head round it…. i think firstly, yes, adam was the first of a kind, the first ever person with powers and that they are all somehow decendants of adams. but then again he mustve been arrrround. and peters gna remember evrything obviously. hell get his powers back and save whats her name in the future. and now we know how hes got his electricity, there are soooo many story lines to follow up on! peter, your the man baby
Nik on 11 November 2007:
This might have been naive of me but I at first thought that Peter lost his memory because of the expolsion. Something about exploding and then regenerating seemed traumatic to me. Watching the preview trailer for the next episode again I think I was wrong and the Haitian got to him. Thoughts?
Argyrakis on 11 November 2007:
to Nik, i think this is the obvious awnser, but since when has heroes ever been obvious?
I wonder if peter inherited all of sylars abilities when they met, if so then why has his hearing not been so acute?
So many questions lol
BRX1 on 12 November 2007:
The pieces are starting to fit together. Adam kills Kaito after all and he sent Matt’s father after Bob. Now Adam and Peter will team up- Jesus! that’ll be some duo!
Also who kills HRG? Is it Suresh? Does Sylar finish of the wonder twins or does Maya finish of Sylar?
Nik on 12 November 2007:
My question now is: is there really a history of depression in the Patrelli family or is the mom using that to cover something darker? This excuse first came up when Peter jumped/flew from the building in season 1 but now that she’s attributing this depression to Nathan… What’s going on?
Stoned Dragon on 13 November 2007:
I’m going to take a shot in the dark after watching the two minute scene and suggest that mama Patrelli’s power may be the power of persusian, to me the scene emthasises the physical contact between her and nathans wife before his wife agrees to do as she asks and thinking back to the last series she always seems to be touching a person a lot when asking/telling them to so something.
Things are really beginning to hot up now and I can’t wait for this episode
Lem on 13 November 2007:
It was mention in the last episode of Volume 1 (How to stop …).peter told nathan that he could not use his other powers because the nuclear power was overwhelming him too much.
Itshme1321 on 13 November 2007:
If I remember rightly, at the end of last season when Hiro went back in time to Japan, managed to see the eclipse etc, the heading was ‘Generations’. I think Adam/Kensei is the “feudal Japan” version of Peter - he can absorb anyones powers like Peter does, therefore allowing him to travel through time as he has been in contact with Hiro. Throughout time he may have come in contact with other Heroes, absorbed their powers then become even more powerful. Could be why Hiro didn’t find the body when the guns tent blew up.
Itshme1321 on 13 November 2007:
Further to my last speculation…Adam knows what Peter is capable of and wants to use him - 2 heads better than one. I do think Adam has the same abilities as Peter, and that he did time-jump when the gun tent blew up. Furthermore, maybe Adam might have been the ‘very first hero’. That he has the same ability as Peter would also explain how he was able to keep the others in check for so long before they decided to go their own way (Petrelli, Linderman etc) also would explain the Godsend symbol, which we have seen at its earliest time in Feudal Japan, and also, in a roundabout way, Adams revenge on Hiro’s betrayal with Yaeko (killing everyone off) can’t wait for the next episode!
Stoned Dragon on 13 November 2007:
Also bob pulls out and shows nathan a newspaper cliping about abnormal weather conditions, he says
that was adam and that it could have easily been a typhoon. The ability to control the weather, perhaps another power he has absorbed along the way.
