If a show of this quality is going to make the effort to be set in Ireland, please do us the courtesy of doing a half decent job. I am disappointed at this lazy bit of programme making. How difficult would it have been to employ an Irish actor (or two)? It’s the equivalent of blacking up a white actor and pretending he is off Afro/Caribean origin!

The streets looked terrible, the cars were wrong, as were the number plates, especially the Amercan Security Truck. By the way Irish Security guards do not carry guns, let alone shoot them – he’d be thrown in prison for discharging a firearm!. A really big cash transport might be accompanied by a couple of army 4×4’s but that’s about it. That is also the empiest pub I’ve ever seen in Ireland!

I’m also Irish and it irritates me that whenever a show “visits” Ireland the writers seem to get lazy and they fall back to the same tired cliches. The accents are terrible and the Irish people don’t sound Irish enough is frankly ludicrous. They don’t sound Irish enough for who? The audience? Unless actors are going toora-loora-loora or a faith-and-begorra then nobody will “get” that they’re in Ireland. If that’s the case they don’t seem to have a lot of faith in their audiences intelligence.

I can’t wait until they visit Paris, all those beret and striped shirt wearing, onion-sellers cycling about will be a hoot. “‘Oo are yuu? O la la! Zoot alors!” Yep, it’ll be great, the Lederhosen fest in Germany will be fantastic too.

Heroes has finally taken away Tom Cruises crown for “Worst Crime Against Irish Accents” for Far and Away. I’m just not sure who exactly should get it… they all deserve it, they’re all so terrible.

Let me try to help you there, from an Irish perspective; about 0% of it worked, about 100% didn’t.

I’m Irish, a huge fan of heroes, bordering on obsessive LOL and not pissed at Adrian for bringing to light what the producers chose to do. Those accents are terrible, the reality being they obviously believe Irish accents to be those like in Far & Away. The accents were terrible and even spoken about on Irish radio stations. We don’t sound like that at all if the producers ever maybe visited the country they might actually figure that out for themselves.

The main reason they are pissed is that those accents are that they do not really represent the way the Irish speak but the producers wanted to make a sort of steroetypical sounding people.

My question is are irish people pissed off at Adrain pasdar or the producers or who ever made the decision not to hire Real irish Actor, thats the only thing confusing me.
