If you watch certain parts there are a number of key facts: 1. The symbol is older than Kensei this means it was created by someone else, they mentioned a sect. Maybe this sect were made of the oldest group of people with abilities? 2. His connection with Charles and the fact they linked him with a group of individuals shows that he was part of the group. Strangely enough the group was made of 12 people. Just a thought here but thats a same number of diciples maybe some connection there? 3.
