Hayden Panettiere in I Love You Beth Cooper, Footloose
With the latest season having just wrapped, the only thing left to do now is to fill these spaces with snippets of information about Season 4 and updates of the cast/crew as they do what actors do when their show isn’t shooting. For Hayden Panettiere, that means starring in the teen comedy “I Love You Beth Cooper” and auditioning for a role in the teen musical “Footloose”, which is of course, a remake of the 1980s movie with Kevin Bacon.
News of Hayden auditioning for the lead female role in the “Footloose” remake comes from the UK’s The Sun, which means it could be true or totally made up. Here’s what they said:
[Hayden] is believed to have read for the part of Ariel Moore, a small-town girl who falls for dance-loving newcomer Ren McCormack. The role was played by Lori Singer in the 1984 film and it also starred Kevin Bacon.
A movie insider said: “The filmmakers were really impressed with Hayden. “No-one realised what a good singer she is.”
Zac Efron was supposed to play the Kevin Bacon character, but he’s since dropped out of the movie. Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford, according to The Sun, is the frontrunner to replace Efron.
Here’s what “Footloose” is about for those of you who never saw the original:
Meanwhile, here’s a trailer, poster, and some images from Hayden’s upcoming “I Love You Beth Cooper”, opening July 10, 2009. Hayden stars as a popular high school girl who the nerdy valedictorian publicly confesses his love to during his speech. It’s based on the novel by Larry Doyle and looks pretty funny. Aw, the awkwardness of youth. The guy playing the nerd sure looks old, though…
