Heroes Episode Review: Chapter 15 1.15) Run!

Run. The title itself could mean running away from something…or someone. For Claire, she is running away from her adoptive father, in whom she has begun to lose trust; however, by running to her natural parents she hasn’t found the peace and acceptance she thought she would. For Nathan, he is running away from a woman he once loved…and for whom he obviously still has feelings. Who would’ve thought that Ms. Petrelli, Nathan and Peter’s mother, would be able to run away from her previous caring nature and fall back into the emotionally detached life of political expediency?

Some of our beloved characters find themselves running towards something. Mohinder is jet-setting around looking for the people on his late father’s List and will probably run himself ragged doing so. Gabriel Gray — Sylar to most folks — is also looking for them…and unfortunately, he finds one first — that poor guy who can liquefy metal and plastic has run out of time. Jessica is running towards her target; she is pretty straightforward in that regard, to no one’s surprise.

It would also seem that some are simply running in place. Matt couldn’t find himself in the LAPD or the FBI, so he has fallen into the typical moonlighting job for some law enforcement professionals — private security. Poor Matt — his first job and he fails in his mission, but who can blame him? Most people wouldn’t win a fight against Jessica, especially in close quarters. Hiro and Ando, unlike their typical selves, are running around like the Keystone Cops. They deserve better than to be comic relief — that is a hint to whomever is doing the scriptwriting these days.

A couple of people, some of the relatively new, are running scams. Claire’s biological mother wants money from Nathan — he has plenty, especially after that large campaign contribution — but why wouldn’t someone with the ability to generate fire already have
money? She would be able to find some specialized uses for that kind of ability, one would think. Hope — the newest addition to the cast — demonstrates a long-known power, that of the ability to get some men to do whatever she wants. Hiro and Ando dressed as bellhops is very reminiscent of Lucy and Ethel.

The characters that don’t fit into any other category are, themselves, running in some sense. Linderman seems to be running the show and Mr. Muggles is running around barking.

Some things never change.
