Discussion Thread: Heroes Season 3 Episode 6 (3.06) Dying of the Light
No one ever stays dead on Heroes. It’s become almost a joke when the show “kills” off a character. Even when we just hear about a character having died in the past, inevitable that person shows up alive and well in the present. Such is the case with Arthur Petrelli, father of the Petrelli brood (and villain Sylar, as it turns out), who is very much alive, and plotting some nefarious plans that involves bringing together some devious heroes, one of whom is … Hiro? Yup, Hiro. After having “proved” himself by shoving a sword into buddy Ando, Hiro is now part of the gang. Or is he? What is Arthur Petrelli’s evil plan? And will anyone ever stay dead on this show? Maybe we’ll find out in the sixth episode of Season 3, titled, “Dying of the Light”.
AS HIRO (MASI OKA) AND OTHERS SEIZE UPON OFFERS TO JOIN RIVAL COMPANY PINEHEARST INDUSTRIES, PETER (MILO VENTIMIGLIA) IS FOREVER CHANGED BY A MEETING WITH ITS SHOCKING FOUNDER — CLAIRE (HAYDEN PANETTIERE) AND HER MOM SANDRA (GUEST STAR ASHLEY CROW) TEAM UP TO SAVE MEREDITH (JESSALYN GILSIG) FROM DOYLE’S (DAVID H. Impressed by his sudden ruthlessness, Villains Knox (guest star Jamie Hector) and Daphne (guest star Brea Grant) bring Hiro (Masi Oka) — among others — into the Pinehearst fold, and give him an assignment. With Angela (Cristine Rose) and the Company paralyzed by recent events, Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) goes directly to Pinehearst for answers, and irrevocably changed by the shocking meeting. Meanwhile, Claire (Hayden Panettiere) and her mother Sandra (Ashley Crow) attempt to free Meredith (Jessalyn Gilsig) from the thrall of escaped Villain Doyle (David H. Lawrence XVII), who has the ability to take mental and physical control of others. Later, Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) brings Tracy (Ali Larter) to Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), hoping he can shed light on the surprising origin of their abilities.

Personally I start having enough of people dying, comming up again and bunches of new heroes popping up everywhere.
Isaac and Ted Sprague stayed dead. Wonder who’s the next one to stay dead. Adam? Maya? Will they be REALLY dead?
Well u forgot: Eden,Linderman, and Niki, since she is tracy now and Linderman is dead, it’s just Maury doing visions of him. Also DL has died, kaito has died.
Also im a bit confused by some of the Heroes “fans”. They hate that no character ever dies, then when Adam and Maia(probably) are about to die everyone starts whining how it sucks that they are gonna kill off 2 characters.
Its not that no character ever gets killed off, it’s more that theyve cheapened death on this show to the point that there is no shock to it anymore. When they kill someone its like ahh they’ll probably be back in a few weeks or next epsiode or maybe not but oh well I hated them anyway. The only real shock Ive ever gotten from a death on this show was Edens and Simones and maybe Adams, a little, because there is NO coming back from turning to dust. Death is nothing more than a cheap trick anymore on this show and theres no real emotion or tragedy behind it any more, at least not enough to make me or most of the viewers to give a s***. Most importantly they leave out the most important part of a death on television, the grief. They seem to just skip right over that which is just bad writing.
P.S. Not knocking Heroes, I love this show but c’mon. Dont just pick people off, sure have some people die but make it mean something when they do and show some people caring about it and not just getiing over it in an ep or two.

For the last time. Ando isn’t dead. It’s a plan Hiro has. He had a fake sword, and a packet of blood. He froze time, and planned it with Ando. I think it’ll be shown either this episode, or the next episode.

It really does sound like Adam and Maya are gonna die. I’d like to see someone die. I don’t really like Maya, although she’s slightly growing on me. Adam, I never really cared for. He looks too much like that other dude, and it bothers me that he looks too much like him, and is not actually him [The gay dude who plays the womanizer from How I Met Your Mother].

She herself implied it in season 1 when being interrogated on whether or not she was the one set to kill him.

I disagree that it is getting better and better. I’ve been watching Smallville for awhile, and it seems Heroes is now taking a (very bad) page from Smallville–hero with the lost powers of the week. This is definitely a bad sign.

I just saw the trailer for e7 and it looks pretty cool, especially the bit with sylar and arthur. someone is shown with their head sliced off and sylar throwing someone around with his telekinesis. Is it possible that sylar has (another?) change of morality and defects to pinehearst?!?!? I dont think so tho because if he is on pinehearst’s side and peter is powerless then who is gunna fight for the company….

This was my guess as well when I saw it.
It was inevitable that he met his father, seeing how the claire clicke of heroes/villains in the future still got together through peter’s dad.
Plus, how did peter from the future die?
He had Claire’s ability, didn’t he?

Maybe he lost his powers no matter what and he has to regain them all over again.

peter with no powers is a problem, but then again peter this season WITH his powers didnt do much either. he’ll get em back somehow, just like everyone comes back from the dead,…well except adam now.
its going to fall to sylar, hiro, parkman & claire to save the world…what a screwed up team of good guys.
sylar did say though he nor peter are ready to face pinehearst…maybe that means sylar will go on a much needed ability hunting before taking on the big baddies. he needs his sick powers back like freezing, and going nuclear, super hearing, melting metal,…etc. all he has now is telekinesis, super scream and regeneration. really hope he reactivates his powers from season 1. i want to see him back on top of his game again.

I think he’s talking about when he couldn’t do anything because of the Shanti Virus.
But since he already exploded in the future, I think it’s okay to assume he’s still got it.
Is it just! me are did syler have invisiable powers too. After peter meet the invisable guy and fought syler syler said cool power he could not wait to try it out. then the end of season 1 he appeared out of no where. Then in season 3, while he was attacking claire he kept dissappering.

There’s gotta be a reason why he got telekenisis back.
Maybe he still has all his other abilities but is still unable to unlock them.
After all, telekenisis wasn’t even his ability. His original ability was understanding how things worked.
i heard someone say that he used that ability so much that it is as much a part of him as him knowing how to fix things

That’s just as good as saying that he forgot how the other powers worked. But with his ability, re-understanding shouldn’t be a problem.

Bare in mind that Future Peter’s future ended up different because of Nathan’s speech. No doubt the event never happened in his time, and if it did, he would have assumed it wouldn’t happen after his meddling.

people! stop freaking out about peter. (the father can take and give) this whole episode explains a lot about the future episode. I don’t know for sure how peter will get a scar, since scars don’t stick around. (nathan has no scars from burning) but it will explain possibly how future sylar gets all of his powers back. Sylar will be going for some ass kicking… Can’t wait for war(episode 13)… and season 4 starts in january/febuary??? Awesome. FRicking Awesome.
