Episode 4 of Season 3 of Heroes finds Peter and his future self in the future, where bad things are afoot, including a vengeful Claire, who is not the Claire we know and love. But then again, nothing in the future makes sense, including a Mr. Rogers-esque Sylar, who may or may not have given up his reign of terror for the comforts of … a kitchen? Meanwhile, something weird is starting to happen to Mohinder Suresh back in the present; could it have something to do with his newfound powers? Well of course it does. Here, then, is your official discussion thread for Episode 4, entitled, “I am Become Death”.
TASKED TO SAVE A WORLD DESTINED FOR DESTRUCTION, PETER MUST EMBRACE A WILD, DANGEROUS ABILITY TO BETTER PREPARE FOR THE STRUGGLE AHEAD
Seeing a future where nearly everyone has abilities, a world destined for destruction, Peter resolves to prevent this earth-shattering end — whatever the cost — and so takes on a dark, unwieldy ability to save the world — gambling (wrong) that it won’t destroy him and everything he loves first. After allowing Angela’s (Cristine Rose) half of “the formula” to be stolen, Hiro (Masi Oka) and Ando (James Kyson Lee) set out to uncover the identity of the Villain who hired Daphne (guest star Brea Grant) — and must consult with the person who knows these rogues best…Adam Monroe (guest star David Anders). After the bloodbath at the bank, H.R.G. (Jack Coleman) resolves to get rid of his new partner. Meanwhile, determined to be a hero, Claire (Hayden Panettiere) hits the road after one of the Villains from H.R.G.’s old files. Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) gives in to impulse. Linderman (guest star Malcolm McDowell) and Molly (guest star Adair Tishler) return in unexpected manners. A new romance ignites between two Heroes.

one more thing now that peter and sylar have clairess power how could they kill themselves now? cause both are undistructible now? unless someone chops their heads off but thats very difficult cause sylar has telekinessis and peter has the time stop abilities so is very difficult to kill them. please give me your toughts about

Well first of i thinkk its also gunna be the case that angela was also Hiro’s mother considering the fact we have never seen Hiro’s mother and the hint she dropped in season 2 about her and kaito. This could also lead to kaito being peter/nathans/sylars dad but i think thats unlikely. Perhaps it was linderman??, that would make a few things make more sense.

Dude in season 2 when Hiro traveled through time with his dad he took him to his mothers funeral (Hiros mothers funeral). Angela isn’t Hiros mother his mother was Japanese and she died.

to answer the original question, Peter/Nathan/Sylar’s dad’s name is Arthur Petrelli. No one knows what his power is (yet). And I am betting all the money in my bank account (not really though) that Arthur and Angela run into each other in the next episode: it seems as though Angela is in utter shock, which is totally out of the “norm” for her.
and no, Sylar and Peter cant kill each other. AND I’m beginning to question even if a bullet in the back of the head WILL kill them: according to Claire, she can never die “NO MATTER WHAT”, so Peter and Sylar are basically going to live forever and never die.

There may b a villain who’s more powerful than Peter or Sylar, so they could kill them probably. Sure, if the haitian was in the same area as them, anyone could kill them. i also think Arthur is Peter, Nathan and Sylar’s dad or else Sylar’s father is completely different. But the story is very very cool!!

I like the clone theory, or perhaps Niki, Jessica, and Tracy (?& Barbara) were forced identical twins of some type. I’ve heard of that being done for real. A fertilized egg is forced to split repeatedly and creates duplicates of the same being.

Plus the bullet is still in his head. He can’t “regenerate” as long as there’s a foreign object lodged in there. I suspect that’s why they took care to keep up with the body. If the bullet comes out, back comes Scarface.

the future looks like its turning out ot be the future from season 1. A giant bomb goes off, Nathan is President (and also dead), and Peter still has that mysterious scar.
How many people freaked out when Peter just about killed Nathan? How many people freaked out when he actually did?
Why didn’t Peter already have Sylar’s power? He’s been around him before, and I thought he absorbs powers unconsciously and without knowing it. It looked like Sylar put up some kind of shield or something to block Peter taking his power. The Haitian’s not dead, so where’d Sylar get that power?
So many questions that I NEED answered. Oh, and the previews for next week’s episode look promising. Was that Arthur Petrelli I saw……?

I think peter didn’t exhibit sylars power before because he never really used it. Usually peter is provoked or asked to bring about certain abilities. Having sylar explain how to tap it just nudged him along.
As for sylar possibly having a blocking ability. Don’t forget people could buy powers in that future.
I think the chilling scenario is Peter having the “hunger”. If he had trouble (unsuccessfully) stopping himself with Nathan. Then I can’t imagine an average joe with powers. However if Peter can control his “hunger”, he will have mastered all uses of his abilities to their extent since he now has sylars so-called “understanding” ability. If anything I expect a much more powerfully Peter.

I don’t think he killed Nathan. I’m pretty sure he stopped himself just shy, and he decided to put the mark on his head to “send her a message” or something like that. At least that’s what it sounded like when we were sort or hearing his thoughts.
Sylar wasn’t stopping Peter from taking his ability. He’s had it ever since he first met Sylar, he just needed Sylar to help him understand how to tap it.
And yes, future Peter died because the Haitian was there.

Yea Peter has had Sylars original power since early season 1 but I don’t think he didn’t just not understand it. I don’t think he actually knew what that power was until Sylar explained it to him last night.

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere in this thread, it is much likelier that Peter is simply “out of commission” so long as he still has a foreign object lodged in his noggin. Remember the glass shard stuck in his cerebellum in Season 1.

I really don’t understand why future Peter didn’t heal from his wounds , I mean is it because the hatian was around and that made him die and not be able to come back again or what , because I don’t understand , does anyone no why ?
I also liked the part when Peter punched future Claire because she needed that , but I did like Future Colaire though, and the Sylar’s child Noah , it was just sad what happened to him
and Sylar exploding was incredible , and shocking because it was a massive destruction !!!

My theory, and its just that, a theory, is that Jessica, was Nikki’s older sister, perhaps she was her older adoptive sister, now we know that Nikki was adopted, and in season 1, because Jessica was one of Nikki’s split personalities she just looked identicle to Nikkie (being the one and same person).
We saw Nikki had a second split personality in season 2, in 4 months ago when she ran away and DL went to get her and got killed. That personality wasn’t Tracy or Jessica or Barbara, just someone completely different, who obviously looked like Nikki, as it was Nikki, just a different person in her head.

This episode was great but my favorite part would have to be the end when Hiro and Ando were digging up Adam and Adam being pissed. (of course)…that was good..and pretty funny. And when hiro was hangin out of the vent was pretty funny as well.But future Claire is a pretty pissed off chick I’m gathering.

Great episode! I just want to know one thing… in the future, is there a war between natural powers versus created powers???
I really love the notion of having two kinds of powers… it really is a great question that i believe Mohinder will struggle with. Do we wait and allow for natural slow progression… allowing time for us to get used to powers, and the responsibility that comes with them. Or do we play god, even the playing field by giving everyone power, or do we become selective and pick and choose. think of the problems that would cause…
As far as Arthur, I am guessing he can control thoughts… or at least be very persuasive… He tells everyone he died and they believe him. then again weather manipulation is sweet… in the future peter shows peter a paper that talks about an earthquake being created…

Wow! I was gonna tape tonight’s episode cause I have to up early in the mornign but I’m glad I stayed up and watched it anyway! Future Claire is awesome. I love where her story is going and I can’t wait til she finds out Sylaar is her uncle. It seems like in all the potential futures after season 1, things don’t look too happy for Claire. I think Sylar gaining her ability was the main event that put her on her dangerous path to becomming a villian. I can’t understand why it took Peter so long to get Sylar’s ability. Unless he had to actually understand what he was looking at. I dunno.
Who was Noah’s mom? I thought it was sad what happened and Sylar blowing up was a amazing! I love Heroes because it baffles just like my other favorite show Lost does.
Also, where does Angela’s dream fit into this possible future? It showed Knox beheading Claire when in the future they work together. He was killed int he explosion from Sylar so I wonder how that’s gonna pan out. Sorry. Peter turning into Sylar. Makes me remember in How To Stop An Exploding Man when Sylar told Peter, “You’re the villian. I’m the hero.” Didn’t mean to rant.

Overall I thought it was a great episode. Covered alot of things well, and it was very action packed and a great hour of television. The effects were really top notch (the scene with Nathan saving Tracy was weak).
I noticed something really cool that you guys might now have. In the picture that Dr. Zimmerman showed Tracy, you can see the German standing next to a young Tracy and Niki

I am most curious, however, as to why everyone in the future wants Peter dead. Everyone keeps saying Claire’s become a villian but in the future everyone views Peter as the villian. They said he was a murderer and terrorist and whatnot…so I really want to know what peter did to make everyone want him dead and how exactly present peter getting sylar’s powers is going to stop that from happening.

i can deal if peter is not powerful all the time, but evil? He was always the best person! Okay, this season is super cool, but don’t you kinda miss the simplicity of season 1 where the good guys were really good (not nathan or HRG, but you know what I mean)
like Homecoming…when he went in to save someone he didn’t even know and he thought he was going to die…sort of inspiring, you know?
What do you think Noah (sylar’s son)’s power was? Obviously not healing. That was so sad.

how does it work when future selves die?? I mean, future daphne, future nathan, and future peter are all dead. So, what, in four years will those present selves just drop dead?
and yeah, what did future peter DO? and what the hell happened to our claire-bear? It’s possible to grow up without becoming a black-leather-wearing psycho who kills her uncle. Speaking as a recent teenager, all that rebellion isn’t exactly necessary.
Oh!just had a possible brain wave! Where is HRG in this future?? Nowhere, right? And that’s not like him, he’s always at the center of the Company plots. and he’s always close to Claire. But he wasn’t anywhere! So…what if HRG is dead? And that’s what changed Claire so much? Maybe she killed him accidentally and after that she didn’t care about killing anymore?

VERY COOL!! Man I caught the pic with the German too…and it is interesting. Clair is willing to kill Pete her HERO killing daddy would be like killing ants with magnifying glass so yeah I think he’s dead but by who? My idea is that Peter, Sylar, Clair and Noah were together when he died…Could it be that Peter choose to save his brother over her daddy? Clair said “you took everything from me” “Syler said Clair i’m” as he bowed his head…Raising a kid he names Noah? Only 3 reasons I can think of for someone to name a kid after, hero worship, in honor of, or in memory of. Looks like Ando was the good guy in the future cause Hiro is working with Knox.

Did anyone get the impression that future Mat already knew Daphny was not coming back…Look at his face is that inevitability or worry and before both Peters went to the future the African knew the future had changed. I used to think that Peter and Sylar were the ones the company experimented on with the formula but now I think they are two of the few who’s powers were natural. Now Peter can knock out the Haitian and pick his brain and finally have his power.

Is it just me or does any one else feel like they are watching the remake of THE FLY with Jeff Goldblum whenever Mohinders portions of the show are featured? I almost expect him to puke on some doughnuts and slurp them up in the next episode. And the Nathan and Tracey flying scene was way too 1970s Superman. Also I thought Nikki/Tracey’s sister was Jessica. Who is Barbara?
