i just relized something. in season one when peter got his power and saved claire for the first time he first could fly but when he met claire, and fell off the roof why didn't he just fly? he healed himself instead. so maybe the teory that peter absorbs peoples powers by being near them does only happen after he meets sylar. because he started absorbing all the powers around him after that.

I can see how people think Peter's power has changed, but we really don't know yet. Yeah, we seemed to lose his grip (super strength) when he began to use Tracy's power (Ice/freezing) but that doesn't mean he lost Mohinder's super strength. He could have just been startled using freezing power for the first time, because he wasn't aware of what power Tracy had, and lost his concentration and thus he stopped using the super strength. Think about what happened when he used other powers for the first time: Electricity, Healing, Radiation, after using each of these powers for the first time he became startled, especially because he didn't know he was going to be receiving these powers. I think we still need to wait and see what Peter's exact power is.
Also think about the end of vol3 when Peter injects himself with the formula and then focuses in on Nathan. He doesn't touch Nathan or take/remove Nathan's power, he just uses it to save them. I think the writers would have remembered that.

I have a feeling that at least one important character is going to kick the bucket due to the crash. But it would make sense that with Claire on the plane, she should be able to use her blood to revive any non severely dismembered character. If someone does die, I think the writers are going to find a way that Claire's power can't bring 'em back. Can't wait for the latest!

Are you kidding me? Peter has used more than one ability many times

When Claude and he were targeted by HRG and the Haitian, he stopped time, used TK on the darts and was invisible while he did it oh and when he jumped off the roof he was flying and I think he was still invisible.

In season 2 he held the guy from the pub with TK and healed himself at the same time.

Again in season 1 he was invisable and he astro projected to the past to talk to Charles Deveroux. When Syler was cutting off his head he healed and used TK to through Syler. Season 2 at the end he used TK on Hiro and Matt while talking to matt through telepathy.

I'm looking forward to see where there going with this though

The Healing ability seems to kick in without focusing on it which lets him focus on other abilites. I want to see Peter Fly, shoot energy waves and use TK.

i like the points you brought up heroguy. i cant recall an instance when peter used multiple abilities at once. if you guys remember when peter was being taught by claude to control his powers he was only controlling one at a time. and when peter was controlling his powers and claude asked him how he did it peter said he thought back to the moment when he encountered that specific individual and how he felt and used that particular emotion to utilize that power. now that peter has that “i should be stronger” complex it could somehow be affecting his abilities just like whenever matt first encountered his dad and his dad told him that there was so much more he could do w/ his ability and that he had only scratched the surface. and to further back that up think back to mohinder’s “fight or flight” theory and how it was all connnected to the psyche, brain, and adrenal gland.

but i think what’s going on right now is exactly what the ppl from the show wanted. they want ppl to speculate what is going on w/ peter. they know the more buzz they get about it the more ppl will continue to watch, start watching again, or pick up new fans. so everyone can keep presenting theories but as always w/ this series answers will be presented in due time.

Once the drugs wear off, as long as Peter focuses, he should be a formidable force.

that's a good theory i can agree with. i have yet to see a character that couldn't learn to control their one power or multiple powers once they actually buckled down and focused.

Hmmmmmm - Rollo here. Yah, it's a good theory but it's not yours. Anyone who watches the series can figure it out for themselves. Anyway, that's besides the point, I'm trying to make it clear what is most probably going on so as to avoid *bad* theorising - see ryan's post above.

It's great that we all understand the episodes in a different way, but at the same time the point of the discussion is to sort it out among us. Some people get it right, with heroesverse logic, and others make assumptions or guesses that just don't make sense. Trying to avoid all of that. But then, the writers can trick any of us up so ultimately it really is a wait and see.

Also, Peter's power has progressed into something new, which is kinda cool. Just remember, if he manages to touch Sylar then he gets all of his abilities at once - cool!

Oh, and how is Tracy at the start 'I don't beg for ANYONE'. Seriously, we might not like her character (and yes, she might be a crappy actress) but give the woman her due..she's badass.

ok here is my theory on peter. now we know he has his original ability back because of what happened in episode 13. now that means that he had already absorbed suresh's ability when he got in his taxi cab, but since his abilities were subdued simply being around them wouldnt work so he grabbed suresh's hand to simply re-charge his super-strength and when he fell and touched tracy he got her freezing ability. you have to remember whatever they were drugged with doesnt go away immediately.

The ending was so awesome as well, such a good feeling when suresh saved peter.

I'm gonna be so pissed if peter's power is absorbing from touch. I don't think they the writers are trying to do the whole 'Rogue from Xmen' thing, but it's gonna be hard not to think they're copying if that is peters new ability

no point in having peter around if his powers are limited. why would you need him if he has to steal tracys power to put out a fire. why wouldnt tracy do it herself. that would mean the writers would have to write in a crisis where peter is around and unconcious heroe. That would seem harder to write than giving him all the powers. let us hope this is drug related. if not ando can always give peter a little boost, maybe allowing him to absorb powers around the world. We need an anti sylar and peter can not be that if he is basically rogue with out her period.

It seems peter isnt really in control of his powers but he just got them back to plus he was drugged of course his powers are going to be a little off. So people stop compaining and stop whining that his powers are changed and be glad hes got his absorbing powers back.

I just don't know what to think about this volume. I mean, the plot is already kicking off to a good start, keeping us in suspense like usual. I just really hope that they give peter his original ability back, i mean it kept the game neutral so to say. Sylar can obtain multiple to abilities, so why not have a good guy that can do the same. Unless sylar will become a good guy in this season, his fight season was pretty impressive. Foresure, i thought they were going to capture him until i saw him start up with this telekinetic stuff. All things will be answered in no time im sure. I'm just so confused as to why Noah has taken a different path. I know he was always in the interest of capturing those with abilities, but why turn to the bad side of it. nathan's plan just seems overly ambitious, almost like there is a secret plot to it all. I never liked nathan from the start. when i saw season one, i said man he's really cool, i saw season two and i was like ehhh loser, then i saw the first half of season 3, and i was even more disappointed. Now seeing volume 4, i have to say, i have lost total interest in this guys character. The tragic thing to it is, what will happen in the end, will they kill each other. Your putting brother up against brother, and i know peter will never take that side of thinking. a Self loathing hypocrite is what Nathan is lol...

Regenerator - I'm not so sure that it's a Sylar (black) vs. Peter (white) showdown anymore. Volume 3 established that there are always shades of grey, even the good guys can become villains. Tim Kring said that Sylar and Peter are like two sides of the same coin, I'm thinking that they're starting to move close towards one another.

Let's assume that they both have the same strands of DNA that create power, after all, their powers are very similar, it's just the method of obtaining new powers that is different. So, they have the same genetic foundation, but this is mediated by personality. Peter was highly empathic and sensitive (this is well established in the first season) and thus he acquires powers via empathy. When he has his breakthrough with Claude, Peter realises that it's by remembering how that person made him feel that allows him to use their power. Sylar on the other hand is a watch maker...I mean come on, how analytical can you get. He obtains other's powers by taking them apart (literally), understanding how they work and then putting it all together in a sense when he uses the power.

Peter's father also rates a mention, as he seems to have a very similar power to Peter's. He can obtain powers and he can also steal other's powers in doing so. It's highly possible that this is also an expression of, or a progression of, the Power Acquisition that Peter and Sylar display. It's also important to mention that Arthur knows that Sylar can use empathy in order to acquire power (from Elle for example), he understands the different forms in which Power Acquisition expresses itself.

Now, the powers and progressing. As Sylar becomes more human and vulnerable, he is able to acquire power through empathy. Similarly, as Peter becomes angrier, more aggressive in his empathy (he won't let the patient die as opposed to being a nurse for dying people), his ability to empathise and thus absorb others' powers are also more aggressive. He can only absorb powers through touch, and only one at a time.
