David Anders Becomes a Heroes Season 2 Regular

By Sam | August 6, 2007 (3:18 pm) | More: Cast: David Anders (as Kensei/Adam Monroe), Heroes Cast/Crew Updates

David Anders’ Kensei, a 1,000 year old immortal Hero, was supposed to only have a recurring part on the second season of Heroes, but he was so impressive during production that the producers have decided to contract the actor for a regular spot on the show, reports TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello. NBC and Anders’ people just closed out the deal recently, making Anders a full-time Hero for the upcoming Season 2.

Like everyone else, I’m still curious how the writers will fit in a very obviously Caucasian actor as the 1,000 year old Kensei, a mysterious warrior in Feudal Japan who became a historical legend, and one of Hiro Nakamura’s childhood heroes. I guess we’ll find out very soon.

  1. YEAHHH I LUVV Anders

  2. ok 1000 years old so how long have these Heroes been around 100 years a 1000 years 2000 years who know and will we find out soon how long have they been around

  3. Wouldn’t be surprised if they argued Jesus and other religious figures were old school heros in the same vein.

  4. Why? Why would they cast a blonde-haired, blue-eyed white guy as a Japanese legendary hero? Don’t we have enough white guys on TV? This sounds really dumb to me.

  5. I just saw the episode 3, and I’m assuming the fact that Kensei’s character is a bumbling drunk can placate those who are offended. Initially I was furious by the this story. But when Hiro remains in past, it became clear to me, the writers are planning something more. Hiro is Kensei, something I had already suspected in Season 1.

With this in mind, I continue to watch the show. Though James Kyson Lee’s japanese accent still grates my ears. Sigh.. but that’s hollywood. While George Takei’s accent is slightly better, at least he’s japanese.

I hope I’m right about Hiro being Kensei, I’ve already swallowed Ando being played by a non japanese actor, if I have to accept David Anders getting the girl and the glory of Kensei’s legend. I’ll make sure to boycott anything related to this show.
