Can “Heroes” Make It?

Ran across this article in the Miami Herald, which talks about how last year the networks, in a mad rush to duplicate the success of ABC’s “Lost”, put their own expensive sci-fi shows on TV, only to see them all fail. One notable example was the Carla Gugino show “Threshold”, which only lasted 9 episodes. Others was ABC’s own “Invasion” and NBC’s “Surface”.

Despite those setbacks for sci-fi fans, two sci-fi shows did make it to the networks for 2006.

Still, a couple of sci-fi serials made it onto the fall schedules. Jericho, on CBS, is a saga about what happens after a nuclear terrorist attack. Heroes, on NBC, is about ordinary people who discover they have super powers. Its cast includes Milo Ventimiglia and Adrian Pasdar.

It won’t be easy, but I think that with a good cast, solid stories, and cool enoughe pisodes, “Heroes” can make it. Let’s hope, anyway. “Jericho” sounds pretty cool too, huh?
