Ali Larter is a Psycho Secretary in Obsessed
Will Ali Larter’s Niki/Jessica be back for Season 3? Maybe, maybe not. Various reports seem to point to Ali wanting to resume her movie career, and it does seem as if her character has waned over the course of Season 2. In any case, Variety reports that Ali is currently in negotiations to star in a new film alongside singer Beyonce Knowles and Idris Elba called “Obsessed”. In the film, Ali would play a temp worker at an office who becomes obsessed (hence the title) with her boss, played by Elba. It’s a juicy part to be sure, the kind that can make movie stars out of an actress, but is it also the kind of part that requires leaving a popular TV show to do?

Screen Gems topper Clint Culpepper is finalizing cast deals, working with Knowles’ and Larter’s reps to iron out scheduling kinks. Knowles is also producing and co-starring as Etta James in “Cadillac Records” for Sony BMG; Larter is working on episodes of NBC’s “Heroes.”
In “Obsessed,” Elba will play an asset manager who has a knockout wife (Knowles) and thriving career until a temp office worker (Larter) begins stalking him.
The big question is, does signing up for a major role in a new movie translate into a smaller (if at all) role for Ali Larter in Season 3? Usually regular castmembers of TV shows save their film projects for the summer, when they and the production are on break, but if Ali plans on shooting “Obsessed” this summer, as the trade suggests, it would seem to indicate that she doesn’t plan on being in Season 3 very often, if at all, as Heroes goes back into production in May.
Should we say goodbye to Jessica/Niki? Time will tell…
