Advance Review of Heroes 4.05 Hysterical Blindness (POSSIBLE SPOILERS)
This is a mostly spoiler-free advance review of next week’s Heroes episode, 4.05, “Hysterical Blindness”. Although I have endeavored to keep the review free of spoilers, keep in mind that depending on your knowledge (or lack thereof) of Heroes episodes, it may still contain some spoilers anyway. Simply put, don’t read on if you don’t want to risk it. You’ve been warned.

(Mostly) missing from this episode: Nathan (of sorts), Matt Parkman, Mohinder (still MIA), HRG, Tracy Strauss, Ando, and a quick cameo by Hiro.
Storylines include…
Sylar: Guest star Ernie Hudson finally makes his appearance as a hard-nosed Baltimore police Detective who literally runs across a newly “resurrected” Sylar on the road. Nathan appears to be gone completely, replaced by Sylar, though Sylar has no memory of who he is. Hudson’s Detective calls in a shrink to help on the case, and the shrink connects with Sylar. Props to Zachary Quinto for a great performance; he’s never looked less “Sylar-like” since, well, ever.
Claire: Claire is reveling in her newfound “normalcy”, and even considers joining her mother’s old sorority. Gretchen isn’t so pleased, and continues to display a creepy, Claire-obsessed side. The two try out anyway, which eventually leads to The Kiss. After all the promotion and hype, it’s really not much of a spoiler.
Peter: We learn about Emma’s past, including a tragic incident from a few years ago that still haunts her. Peter saves her life (as seen in the promo tease) when she’s nearly run over in the street, and in the process absorbs her powers. The two bond over music and the whole floating colors thing that only they can see. Emma also discovers that her power has a whole other, more practical side to it.
Samuel: Samuel is insistent that someone must replace his late brother Joseph at their Carnival table, but is unsure about who that will be. Peter? Hiro? Claire? Lydia finally comes up with the answer.
Finally…
A new hero is “revealed” to be in league with Samuel.
Heroes 4.05, “Hysterical Blindness” airs next week, October 12 on Monday.
